Session 1: Introduction & Basics

Introduction to Excel
Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet program used for data entry, analysis, and visualization. It allows
users to organize information into rows and columns, perform calculations, and create charts.

Basic Excel Interface


1. Workbook: A file containing one or more sheets.
2. Worksheet: A grid of rows (numbers) and columns (letters).
3. Ribbon: The toolbar with commands (Home, Insert, Formulas, etc.).
4. Formula Bar: Where you can enter or edit data and formulas.
5. Cell: The intersection of a row and column (e.g., A1).

Basic Operations
1. Entering Data: Click a cell and type values/text.
2. Editing Data: Double-click a cell or use the formula bar.
3. Copy/Paste: Use CTRL+C and CTRL+V.
4. Autofill: Drag the fill handle (bottom-right corner of a cell).
