Filipino Language & Mythology

Invulit (Reduplication)

Definition: Repetition of a syllable or word.

Types:
Ganap (Complete): The whole word is repeated (e.g., Araw-Araw).
Di-ganap (Incomplete): Only part of the word is repeated (e.g., tatakbo-takbo).

Tambalan (Compound): Combination of two words with meaning (e.g., Akyat-Bahay).

Aksiyon (Action/Usage Examples):

1. Sumayaw (To dance)


2. Kumain (To eat)
3. Tumakbo (To run)

Cupid at Psyche (Mythology)


Definition of Mythology:
The study of myths (mythos - Greek/Latin).
Stories about Gods/Goddesses, spirits, and other unique creatures.
Deals with the origin and creation of the world.
Explains events as a result of myths.

Mga Kayarian ng Salita (Word Structures)


Payak (Simple): Root word only.
Examples: siyon, paot
Maylapi (Affixed): Root word + Affix.
Affix + Root Word. Example: kasabay
Important Notes:
The structure of a word refers to how the word is formed.
An affix is an added letter or group of letters attached to the root word to change its
meaning.
