Task 1
The table compares the percentage of expenditure which consumers from 5
countries spend on different living expenses in the year 2002.
Overall, it is clear that the largest proportion of consumer spending in each country
went on food, drinks and tobacco. On the other hand, the leisure/education
category has the lowest percentages in the table.
Out of the five countries, consumer spending on food, drinks and tobacco was
noticeably higher in Turkey, at 32.14%, and Ireland, at nearly 29%. The rate of
spending on leisure and education was also highest in Turkey, at 4.35%, while
expenditure on clothing and footwear was significantly higher in Italy, at 9%, than
in any of the other countries.
From the table, it also can be seen that Sweden had the lowest percentages of
national consumer expenditure for food/drinks/tobacco and for clothing/footwear,
at nearly 16% and just over 5% respectively. Spain had slightly higher figures for
these categories, but the lowest figure for leisure/education, at almost 2%.
Task 2
In recent times, there are constrasting views that people are born with specific
skills on sports or music or whether their abilities can be developed through
teaching. Although gifted individuals have a significant impact on such sports or
music, I believe that people who are taught and trained are the better one.
To begin with, it is said that a prodigy is natural. Supporters of this view argue that
prodigies gain their talent genetically. This means if one or both parents are
prodigies, the children will have the gene, too. Therefore, they get higher-than-
average talents and abilities. Interestingly, in particular some families, even if none
of them is related to sport or music, their children are showcased talent. For
example, a chess grandmaster, Magnus Carlsen, from his family never touched a
chess board, however, he excels in chess games. This might be the best example of
birth talent.
However, in my opinion, any talent that is given to someone becomes useless when
it does not work, in addition, any human in the world can win by doing the right
things consistently. For instance, the Newcastle United’s deffender Dan Burn was
saked by his own team when young and spent a lot of years finding ‘the light in the
dark’. Nowadays, at the age of 33, he is the most crucial player in his football
team, and during his whole career, he trained much more than his opponents.
Additionally, the most common answer from any successful artist or sports player
is desire and discipline.
In conclusion, some individuals are claims that some artists got talent by born
rather than effort. I personally believed that every successful person, spent a lot of
time on it to make him or her famous.
