Purpose of the Project

The purpose of this exercise is for students to get a deeper understanding of the
following aspects regarding teaching and learning;
 Introduction of a lesson
 Strategies and techniques to engage learners in a lesson
 Different types of questioning
 Feedback, peer and self-assessment
 reflection

Approach to completing the Project

To complete the project, students will need to collect information by:


 observing a lesson presented by their mentor
 interviewing their mentor

REPORT: Observation of Mentor Lesson Presentation and Interview

Please request your mentor to allow you undertake an observation of a lesson that
she/he presents. Inform the Mentor that this is part of your Teaching Practice
requirements, and that you will also interview her/him after the lesson to get a more
detailed understanding of the:
 introduction of the lesson that were used;

 how the mentor managed her/his time;
 how the mentor uses assessments in the lesson;
 how the mentor used questions; and
 How feedback was provided during the lesson.
