Sizing
This pattern can be made in 5 sizes (XS/S, M/L, XL, 2/3XL, and 4/5XL).
XS/S M/L
Body Circumference: 42 in. Body Circumference: 46 in.
Top to Bottom: 20.5 in. Top to Bottom: 21 in.
Arm Length: 18 in. Arm Length: 18 in.
XL/2XL 3/4XL
Body Circumference: 56 in. Body Circumference: 58 in.
Top to Bottom: 21.5 in. Top to Bottom: 21.5 in.
Arm Length: 19 in. Arm Length: 23 in.
5XL
Body Circumference: 64 in.
Top to Bottom: 24 in.
Arm Length: 23 in.
Pattern Notes
This pattern is based off of Sandra Miller Maxfield’s blanket cat afghan
pattern published in 1997. You can find the blanket pattern free here:

This pattern uses US crochet terminology. It is written for the smallest
size, XS/S, with (M/L, XL/2XL, 3/4XL, 5XL) given after.
Materials
Weight 4/aran/worsted yarn. (900, 1150, 1200, 1450, 1800) yards
J-10 6 mm crochet hook
Tapestry needle
Scissors
Abbreviations Gauge
Ch: chain with 6mm hook
Dc: double crochet 10 dc sts x 5 rows
Dc2tog: double crochet 2 together
Hdc: half double crochet Adjust your hook size depending
Ss: slip stitch on your tension so that this
St/sts: stitch/stitches amount of rows and stitches
results in a 3x3.5 in square.
Body Panels (Make 2)
You will be using this color change graph to create the body
panels, this is the part of the pattern that is used from the afghan
pattern linked above.
3/4X 5X XS/S M/L XL/2XL
Each square on graph = 2dc horizontally (1 vertically)
*Depending on the size, you may not use the entire graph
(horizontally) or you may use more rows than the graph includes,
in which case you will continue again from the beginning of the left
side of the graph.*
With base color using the color change chart (2 per row per
square on chart)
Ch. 63 (73, 83, 93, 97)
Row 1: dc in 3rd st, dc across, ch 3 and turn (60, 70, 80, 90, 94)
Rows 2-22: follow the color change chart, continue working 2dc
for each square horizontally.
Body Continued
Row 23: Repeat row 2, but replace squares 26-29 with your base
color.
Row 24: Repeat row 2, but replace squares 26-31 with your base
color.
Row 25: Repeat row 2, but replace squares 26-31 with your base
color. (XS-S stop here)*
Row 26: Repeat row 2, but replace squares 11 and 28-31 with
your base color.
Row 27: Repeat row 2, but replace squares 11-12 and 29-31 with
your base color. (M-L stop here)*
Row 28: Repeat row 2, but replace squares 11-19 and 30-31 with
your base color.
(XL-2XL stop here)*
Row 29: Repeat row 2, but replace squares 6-8, 11-20, 30-31, and
34-37 with your base color.
Row 30: Repeat row 2, but replace squares 6-9, 11-21, 24, 27, 30-
31, and 33-36 with your base color.
*Do not fasten off, continue to shoulder extensions. Add extra
rows here for length, but do not begin making extra cats. Replace
these with your base color.
Shoulder Extensions
Row 1: Continue following the color change chart (excluding extra
cats) with dc for 24 (26, 30, 34, 37) st. ch 3 & turn
Row 2: Dc2tog in first 2 st, dc across, ch 3 and turn (23, 25, 29, 33,
36)
Row 3: Dc across, dc2tog in last 2 st (22, 24, 28, 32, 35)
Row 4: Repeat row 2 (21, 23, 27, 31, 34)
Row 5: Repeat row 3 (20, 22, 26, 30, 33)
Row 6: Repeat row 2 (19, 21, 25, 29, 32)
Attach yarn to the other side of the sweater and repeat.
Once both body panels and shoulder extensions are complete:
Line up the pieces with wrong side facing out.
Seam the shoulder extensions together.
Seam the sides up from the bottom, leaving 11 (12, 13, 14, 15)
st on each side for sleeve openings.
Sleeves
Attach yarn to the armpit of the sweater
Row 1: Dc around the opening, ch 3 (44, 48, 52, 56, 60)
Repeat row 1 for 25 (25, 28, 28, 28) rows
Collar
Rows 1-4: Sc around the collar

Lower Ribbing
Ch. 11
Row 1: Skip the first 3 sts and work 1 dc in each st across (8)
Row 2: Ch 3 and turn. Work 1 dc in each st across (8)
Repeat row 2 for a total of 60 (60, 80, 90, 94) rows
Seam ends together to create a loop. To attach, lay the section
below the sweater and use 4 stitch markers to attach, ensuring
that it will attach evenly. Seam.
Sleeve Cuffs (Make 2)
Ch. 11
Row 1: Skip the first 3 sts and work 1 dc in each st across (8)
Row 2: Ch 3 and turn. Work 1 dc in each st across (8)
Repeat row 2 for a total of 13 (13, 14, 16, 20) rows
Seam ends together to create a loop. To attach, lay the section at
the end of your sleeve and use 4 stitch markers to attach first,
ensuring that it will attach evenly. Seam. You will need to attach
multiple sweater stitches to each cuff stitch.

that they are all tucked away by your tapestry
