Expose to other culture and environments is crucial for young people to develop a
comprehensive understanding of the world. While encouraging travel to different
countries is an excellent to achieve this, it is not the most effective one in my opinion.
Meanwhile, having educational initiatives for young people within their home
environments is also a potential measure.
There are reasons why travelling to other countries my not be the best option. It should be
noted firstly, however, that young people’s understanding of the world can be
significantly broadened through exposure to different cultures and lifestyles. Thanks to
international travel, they may directly experience unfamiliar traditions and perspectives,
which foster a deeper appreciation for global diversity. The insights gained there are
likely to be superior to knowledge found in textbooks. The disadvantage is that
globetrotting is usually expensive and not always practical. Travelling to other countries
typically involves various costs, of which flight and lodging can be prohibitive.
Meanwhile, many nations impose tough visa restrictions for visitors, which leaves but a
narrow selection of places that can be travelled to.
However, alternative methods to enhance the young’s global knowledge exist, such as
educational initiatives. Initially, schools can dispense lessons that emphasize world
history, culture studies, and current international affairs. This would introduce the young
generation to the perspectives of people around the world without the need for physical
travel. Incorporating exchange programs or virtual connections with students from other
countries, furthermore, would facilitate accessible cultural learning. Exchange students
can teach others about their home countries’ traditions and customs, which helps the hosts
learn international culture cost-effectively.
In conclusion, while international travel can positively impact young people’s global
awareness, it is not the optional choice, and education initiatives in their home
environments can be just as effective. Schools should, therefore, enrich their curricular
