Statement of the Problem
This study aims to investigate how hospital safeguarding patient information in the
digital age in Tagbilaran City for 2024 – 2025.
Specifically, it seeks to answer the following:
1. What are procedures in managing data privacy?
2. How does the hospital manage data privacy of patients?
3. Who are responsible in handling the patient’s record?
4. What are their duties and responsibilities?
5. What improvements can be recommended to strengthen data privacy in healthcare?
6. What are the most common challenges in implementing data privacy?
7. What are the mitigating measures in addressing the challenges?
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Design
To achieve these objectives, the study will adopt a qualitative research approach,
focusing on in-depth interviews and focus group discussions with IT staff and individuals
responsible for data privacy management within the hospital. A thematic analysis will be
conducted to identify recurring challenges and areas for improvement in data privacy
management within the context of IT and data privacy. By employing a qualitative method, the
research will provide a comprehensive understanding of the best practices of those involved in
securing health information and addressing data privacy challenges.
Environment and Participants
The researchers conducted the study at Tagbilaran City, Bohol specifically in Medical
Mission Group Hospital and Health Services Cooperative (Bohol Cooperative Hospital). The
Medical Mission Group Hospital and Health Services Cooperative is located at Binayran Road,
Dampas District, Tagbilaran City, Bohol. It is only 3.7 kilometers away from the downtown and it
is one of the private hospitals in Bohol.

The Medical Mission Group Hospital and Health Services Cooperative (Bohol
Cooperative Hospital) was chosen as the research locale because it allows us to study data
privacy in a real-world hospital setting, where our finding can directly benefit the local
community and improve the hospital’s practices.
The respondent of this study is the IT Personnel and those who are responsible for
managing the data privacy. These personnel are the ones who keep the patient’s information
safe. The IT personnel they are the experts on keeping the hospital’s computer safe while the
other personnel those who are responsible for managing data privacy, they make sure the
hospital follows the rules about protecting patients’ information. By talking to both groups, we
can gain a comprehensive understanding of the challenges involved in safeguarding patient
health information.
Instrument
The survey questionnaire was used as the main data-gathering instrument for this study.
