a. Describe the different ways that the Prophet (pbuh) received revelation from God.

Revelation is the special communication between Allah and his chosen messengers. This
allowed the prophet to directly speak to Allah. The quran was revealed over a span of 23
years for [Link] first revelation that came to the prophet came to him in the cave of
hira where as usual the prophet was medatating when angel jibreel came in a human form
and hugged him tightly and then released him this happened thrice until the prophet started
to read the first 5 ayats of surah Alaq
The Quran was revealed in 5 different ways in which 3 of them had something to do with
[Link] the prophet would have a dream that would come true an example of this is
when the prophet had a dream that he was wearing the ihram and performing umrah which
was done the next year because of the treaty of hudabiyah which was mentioned in surah
Fath. the second way the quran was revealed to the prophet was that Allah spoke directly
with the prophet an example of this was isra al miraj where when the prophet travelled up
the skys he was given the last 2 ayats of surah Baqrah. The third way was when angel
jibreel came in human form as the the companion hazrat Dahya Qabli RA this happened in
the cave of hira where the prophet was revelaed the first 5 ayats of surah Alaq .the forth was
was when the angel would come in his original form this happened twice once outside the
cave of hira and once during miraj the last and final way was when the angle used to come
in the form of a ringing bell.
The condition of the prophet after the revelation was also very hard on him that is why the
2nd revelation came after 6 months when the prophet was hiding under a blanket and then
surah mudassir was revealed. Hazrat zaid was sitting with the prophet with their legs on top
of another when the revelation came to the prophet hazrat zaid said that it felt like i would
not be able to walk again which shows how much spiritual weight the revelation had also the
prophet had fever even though the weather was quite warm and he used to sweat during
cold weather his face would also turn pale.
b. What are the benefits of the Qur’an being available to everyone on the internet?

The benefits of the Quran being available to everyone on the internet is that because almost
everyone has phones or a device they can easily access the quran anywhere very easily
and if somebody is travelling it is very easy for them to read the [Link] makes it easy for
anyone to gain knowledge
a. Write about the ways in which Abu Bakr, ‘Umar and ‘Uthman were involved in the
compilation and preservation of the Qur’an. (10)
After the prophet had passed away the 3 caliphs Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman were given
the responsibility to preserve the quran .during the prophets life time the prophet would
memorize the verse that were revealed to him and then he had his secretaries or scribes to
write them down and he would the arrange them in order
During the battle of yamama around 300 hafiz were killed which arised tension taht the
quran could be forgotten so hazrat umar rushed to abu bakr to compile the quran to which
he said that how could I do something not even the prophet has done but eventually hazrat
abu bakr too it upon himself to compile the quran then there were many people who would
check the order and if it was correct
After this hazrat umar made it compulsory to teach the quran and encouraged the
memorization of the quran which made the quran more common and frequently practiced
Hazrat usman also had a important role as when islam was spreading there were many
copies of the quran which not all of them were correct so he ordered teh quran to have 4
perfect copies and sent to major islamic citys and ordered the other copies to be burn down
so there would not be misunderstanding and the quran being changed
In conclusion the 3 caliphs all had major roles to preserve the quran and keep it in its original
form
b. Do you think, for Muslims nowadays, having the Qur’an in a written format
outweighs the benefits of having the oral tradition? Give reasons for your answer. (4)
The quran has to be both in written and oral form because the written form preserves the
quran and if even everybody does forget there is still a way people can read but because of
oral the pronunciation in done properly and more people are encouraged to memorise the
quran
a. Write about the function of the Qur’an and Sunna as the two primary sources of
Islamic law. (10)
The quran is the most authentic,authoritative,and comprehensive book there is which means
the quran has never and will not be changes because allah is the protector of it and it is also
the most authoritative book it the most powerful book and if something has been said it can
not be questioned or challenged also it is the most comprehensive book which means it has
the detail about every single aspect there is and has a solution for everything
The quran and hadith are both connected to each other and are both primary sources to
create islamic law as if the topic is not written in the quran then the prophets hadith would
be done next to create islamic law
The hadith is very important and we have to use it to get the complete meaning of the quran
as sometime the quran might be talking about the same topic as the hadith but it might be
talking about a different aspect or maybe does not give the detail then the hadith gives the
details and restrictions which when used together gives better understanding
Example of this is that the quran has told us not to say uff to parents but the hadith tells us
that there in jannah underneath your mothers feet also the quran tells us to give zakat but
the hadith tells us the rate and situations that you have to give in another example is that the
quran tells us that if somebody has stolen their hand shall be cut off but the hadith tells us
that it would not be cut of for under 10 dirhams or if the situation wsa desperate for the
person to steal
From this we learn that the quran and the hadith and sunnah of the prophet all are
connected to each other to create islamic law
