BIOGRAPHY

MRS ALICE BRONI-AHORLU AKA DAVI WOEKPOR OR ALAWOSI

I heard a voice from heaven say, write this, “blessed are the dead
who die in the Lord from now on, yes, says the spirit, they will rest from
their labour, for their deeds will follow them”. Revelations 14:13
The late Alice Ahorlu-Broni aka Davi Woekpor was born on 11th
November, 1950 at Wusuta Tsikoe in the Volta region of Ghana. The
parents were Komlakpuie Broni and Elizabeth Agbeko (Mama Folinor), both
of blessed memory. She was the 8th born daughter of her parents.
At an early age, Davi Woekpor went to stay with her Auntie Agbevenor
at Obuasi. She later joined her parents at Wusuta Tsikoe to start her
elementary education. Due to her hard work, her Auntie (Da) Akosua Mabo
asked her to stay with her at Wusuta Sakatrie to continue her education
which she obliged. She always walked from Sakatrie to Wusuta E.P School
(Gbogame). During her school days, she involved herself in sports activities
which even took her to regionals. Some of the disciplines were: Netball,
football, volleyball, jump short and long distance relay.
Davi Woekpor could not complete her education due to financial
constrain. She also did a lot of menial jobs like carrying of palm wine for
people, fetching water, gathering and selling of firewood. She also walked
from Wusuta to her Auntie Buabasha Bra at Dayinu and stayed there three
or four days to fry fish for selling at Wusuta. She sometimes also go to
Volta lake at Wusuta Kpebe to buy fish. She also cook beans, rice and yam
(Busa), and anything she could lay her hand on to do.

Marriage and family life

Davi Woekpor as she was popularly called later met and got married to Mr.
Daniel Ahorlu aka Fo Alawo. The marriage was blessed by Pastor Samuel
Asiam and they had a son: David and four daughters, Juliana, Sesime, Joyce
and Elizabeth (Sena). Her commitment and selflessness endeared her to
many wonderful friends and children. Other individual referred to her as
mum because she was involved in their welfare growing up. Davi Woekpor
was a mother and a helper to any person in need who came to her notice.
She mixes very well and genuinely love.

Christian life
Fo Alawosi was a devoted Christian from Gospel Revival Ministry to
New Life Assembly who loved and served her saviour with all her heart. She
was actively involved and committed. She was also loving and friendly with
all.

Sickness and death

Sometime in 2023, Davi Woekpor took ill. She went through the hands
of many doctors in Margaret Marquat Hospital, Kpando, Trafaga Teaching
Hospital, Ho and Anfoega General Hospital, and many other health
facilities, but to no avail. She finally succumbed to her illness on 31st May,
2025. She left behind Mr. Daniel Ahorlu (widower), five children, twenty
grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
May her gentle soul rest in peace.
TRIBUTE BY HUSBAND … TO MY DEAR WIFE – DAVI WOEKPOR
The sudden death of my dear wife has brought me to the
understanding of what St. Paul says in Philippians 1:21 that “for me to live
is Christ and to die is a gain”.
My light went out on 31st May, 2025 when my beloved wife Alice
passed away.
God in His infinite wisdom had other plans. Oooh Davi Woekpor is no
more. Our resources at times were limited. We had troubles like every
other couple but these were overcome and we found much happiness in
anticipation of better things to come. We were blessed with five wonderful
children.
My dear wife was not only a wonderful wife and mother but she was a
meticulous housekeeper and homemaker. She was a cheerful and friendly
person. She seldomly, if ever quarreled with people. She was the soul of
honesty. She would never shade the truth in case you go wrong. She loved
her church and was faithful to her allotted task. She also lived nurturing
and caring for other children.
I know many men have wonderful wives but no one has ever had a
better one than I. She was faithful, efficient, loyal and true. She inspired
me in ways I cannot explain.
Rest in peace dear wife. Till we meet again on that resurrection
morning.
TRIBUTE BY CHILDREN
“But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren concerning those who have
fallen asleep, for if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God
will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus”. 1 Thessalonians 4:13 – 14.
Indeed Dadaa, you have fought a good fight. You have finished your
course, and also kept the faith.
It’s been said a mother’s heart is the child’s classroom. We are
grateful to God for such a mom like you Dadaa as we affectionately call
you.
Today, as we gather, our hearts are overflowing with love and
gratitude for you. It’s truly impossible to put into words just how much you
mean to us, but we want to try and express even a fraction of the profound
impact you’ve had on lives.
You always put our needs before your own, and that selfless love is
something we will forever cherish. You instilled in us the importance of
kindness, integrity and hard work.
We will always remember the special smile, that caring heart, that
warm embrace that you always give us. We saw how you struggled not to
give up until the end.
Dadaa, we often laugh remembering your unique quirks – your
infectious laugh and your words…
Dadaa was the most loving, humble, compassionate, understanding,
hardworking, fiercely independent, brave hearted woman and one of the
most beautiful souls one could ever meet.
Thank you Woekpor, for everything, for your boundless love, your
endless patience, and your unwavering belief in us. We love you more than
words can say, today, tomorrow and always.
Fare thee Alawosi and may the angels lead you to paradise.
Mawu na no kpli wo.
Amen
A LOVING TRIBUTE TO OUR DEAREST GRANDMOTHER.
To our beloved Grandma, as your grandchildren, our hearts are full as
we gather to honour you today. It’s difficult to truly express the immense
love, respect, and gratitude we feel for you, but we want to share some of
the ways you’ve shaped our lives and filled them with joy.
You’ve always been so much more than just a grandmother; you are
our story teller, our confidant, and our pillar of strength. We cherish
countless memories of your warm embraces, the delicious meals you always
prepared with so much love. We watched how you navigated life’s
challenges with grace and resilience, always holding onto hope and a quiet
determination.
Grandma, you have enriched our lives in ways we can hardly
articulate. You are a testament to a life-well-lived filled with purpose, love
and an unwavering commitment to family.
Thank you, Grandma for your boundless love, your enduring spirit and
for being the extraordinary woman you are. We are so incredibly lucky to
be your grandchildren. We love you.
Rest peacefully in the bosom of your saviour.
Grandma, Dozudzo le Nutifafa me.
