Topic 1:
To choose a leisure activity that brings me the best benefits, I will choose reading.
I have to tell you that I can read books anytime, anywhere. But I think I read books
mostly in my free time, and especially before going to bed. Reading books help us
stimulate our brain to develop better, and increase memory ability as well. And a
book that will bring you new horizon. Because when reading books, you will be
immersed in the world and your own rich imagination. Each book has its own
lessons such as: teaching us to control emotions, giving us insight into a social
issue, helping us understand more deeply the value of literature,... From my point
of view, reading is also an extremely effective means of entertainment during times
of stress. Because of the above benefits, I love reading even more and I will try to
maintain it.

After a stressful semester, my parents decide take me to the country to visit
grandparents, leave the noise of city behind. Homeland is a small and peaceful
land, beside the Red River. The atmosphere here is very fresh, there is no noise, no
pollution as in the city I am living. On two sides of the road there are the rows of
green trees and birds singing beside the ears. In front of my grandparents’s house is
a small garden. Every morning, after sweeping the house, I am taken to the garden
to water vegetables, feed chickens. The feeling of watching the little yellow
chickens run around the legs is really amusing. In the afternoon, my brother leads
me to fly kites on the long dyke with children in the neighborhood. These children
also think some interesting games such as chasing, hide and seek ... People here are
usually living by catching fish, herding cattle or poultry and also making
traditional cake,....For me, everything here is new and amazing. After the trip, I
know how to swim and learn many many things. I hope next summer parents will
take me to visit the grandparents again.

Many people like the house's modern splendor, but what impresses me is the
traditional long house of the Ede people. The long house of the Ede people is a stilt
house, made of bamboo and wood, the floor and walls surrounding the house are
made of crushed old bamboo or bamboo stems, and the roof is thatched with grass.
Mostly the houses will have the same structure. Long houses are often thatched
with grass. Thatch is covered in clusters, the tops hang down over the roof, the
roots bend down inward. Ede people often build houses in the North-South
direction. From a distance, the house has the shape of a boat. When talking about
length, we refer to the number of horizontal beams (dykes) corresponding to a pair
of columns. There are as many dikes as there are rooms in a house. The staircase is
a highlight of the Ede longhouse associated with the two doors of the longhouse,
the front door is for guests and men, the back door is for women. Usually Ede
people's houses have 2 staircases, the front staircase and the back staircase. Long
house is a traditional house that is simple but has an extremely peaceful and cozy
look of the Ede people.

Every person is born with a homeland. Wherever we go, we always remember our
homeland. My hometown is dear Hung Yen. Hung Yen is about 29km from the
city center where I live and takes more than 30 minutes to get there. I often go with
my family by car. Different from the bustling city, my hometown Hung Yen has a
peaceful and beautiful character. The golden ripe rice fields are extremely eye-
catching. Longan gardens are full of sweet fruits. Referring to Hung Yen, people
immediately think of the longan fruit. The longan fruit here has a special taste that
is nowhere to be found. My hometown Hung Yen still appeared with long
sandbanks running along the dikes. Pho Hien is famous for being located at the
confluence of the river. Hung Yen has no sea. Pho Hien is the largest harbor here.
The people here are simple and gentle. People here are usually living by catching
fish, herding cattle or poultry and also making traditional cake,.... People love each
other, consider each other as relatives. Everyone will help each other when
something goes wrong. Come to Hung Yen to experience the landscape as well as
the people here.

There are many popular festivals in Viet Nam, however, The Hung King Temple
Festival is one of the most important festivals. This festival is held to worship the
founders of our nation. It takes place in Hung King Temple in Phu Tho province
from the 8th to the 11th day of the third lunar month. The Hung Temple historical
area includes three main temples: Ha Temple, Trung Temple and Thuong Temple
in order from the bottom of the mountain going up. People offer incense and
specialities such as: banh chung ,banh day and five-fruit-trays to the King, besides,
there are many traditional games and activities such as bamboo swings, lion
dances, wrestling and Xoan singing performance. At the festival, I like watching
lion dances most, it’s really impressive. It is because of these activities and
competitions that the festival atmosphere becomes more noisy and crowded.
