Week 3 (4 August to 8 August 2025)

What did I learn this week regarding Teaching?

I learned that learners understand theoretical concepts better when given hands-on tasks. Demonstrating
Ohm’s Law with simple circuits helped them visualise the relationship between voltage, current, and
resistance. Teaching became more effective when practical activities were included.

How could I improve my Lesson Planning?

I should include more time for circuit construction and analysis. While content delivery was well-structured,
learners needed more opportunities to apply their knowledge practically. Planning must also account for
group work dynamics and time for reflection.

What worked well during my Lessons?

Group discussions and practical demonstrations using resistors, batteries, and LEDs worked very well.
Learners were excited to test how changing the number of cells affected the brightness of LEDs and the
ammeter readings. They were more involved and eager to report their observations.

What could have worked better during my Lessons?

Some groups struggled with circuit diagrams and identifying components. More time for revision of
component symbols and circuit logic (AND/OR switches) before practical work would have strengthened
their confidence during investigations.

What challenges did I experience during my Lesson Preparation and Lesson Presentation?
The biggest challenge was managing tools and components during the practical. With limited multimeters
and some learners not used to delicate circuit equipment, setup took longer and a few components were
mishandled.

What do I need to do to improve my Lessons?

I need to prepare step-by-step guides and diagrams ahead of time for group tasks. Pre-selecting group leaders
or helpers who understand circuit basics can also help manage the lesson better and keep things moving

efficiently.

What did I enjoy about my School Experience during this week?

Learners were excited to experiment and showed a high level of interest in electronics. Their curiosity
created a lively and productive learning environment. It was encouraging to see them confidently connect
resistors and LEDs and observe Ohm’s Law practically.

What challenges did I experience at school during this week?

Limited practical resources made it difficult to give all groups enough time with the equipment. Also,
varying skill levels among learners meant some needed more support than others, making time management
during group work a bit difficult.

Week 3 (4 August to 8 August 2025)

What did I learn this week regarding Teaching?

I learned the importance of consistently checking learners’ prior knowledge before introducing new sections.
Many students struggled with advanced respiratory terms until I linked them to earlier content like cell
respiration and diffusion. Using real-life analogies helped bridge the gap between textbook knowledge and
understanding.

How could I improve my Lesson Planning?

I should improve by breaking complex concepts into smaller, more digestible segments. For example,
explaining the human respiratory tract before tackling the mechanism of breathing helped learners build
foundational understanding. Planning more revision activities or recap slides would also help reinforce the
work taught.

Visual aids like lung diagrams, breathing models, and videos showing alveolar gas exchange made the topic
more tangible. Learners engaged better when diagrams were labeled together in class. Group discussions and
peer teaching also enhanced participation and understanding.

What could have worked better during my Lessons?

Time management during double periods was a challenge. Some activities, such as quizzes or video
summaries, were rushed. I could also have given clearer instructions during diagram analysis so that all
learners could follow at the same pace.

What challenges did I experience during my Lesson Preparation and Lesson Presentation?
Creating inclusive lessons for mixed-ability learners was challenging. Some learners picked up content
quickly, while others needed repetition and more explanation. Additionally, not all learners brought their
textbooks, making it difficult to follow along during reading sections.

What do I need to do to improve my Lessons?

I need to create a stronger balance between theory and learner activity. Incorporating more exit quizzes or
short formative assessments will help me gauge understanding before moving on. I also plan to prepare more
printed diagrams and summary notes for those without textbooks.

What did I enjoy about my School Experience during this week?

Learners were particularly enthusiastic about the topic. They asked relevant questions about how smoking or
asthma affects breathing. Their willingness to engage in class discussions and link knowledge to daily life
made teaching this topic fulfilling.

What challenges did I experience at school during this week?

Some learners lacked motivation during early morning periods, and it was difficult to get their full attention.
Inconsistent attendance from a few learners also meant they missed critical parts of the lesson, affecting
group cohesion during revision.
