a) Solve for x: 4x - 7 < 9. (2)
b) Solve: x² - 8x + 15 = 0. (2)
c) If a : b = 5 : 7 and b : c = 3 : 4, find a : c. (2)
d) Using the Remainder Theorem, find the remainder when f(x) = x³ - 2x² + x - 5 is divided
by x - 2. (2)
e) The first term of an AP is 6 and the common difference is 4. Find the 12th term. (2)

a) A = [[2, 1], [3, 4]], B = [[1, 0], [2, 5]], find A + B. (2)
b) Find the 5th term of a GP whose first term is 243 and common ratio is 1/3. (2)
c) Write the coordinates of the image of (-3, 5) after reflection in the x-axis. (2)
d) Find the equation of the line passing through (3, 4) with slope -2. (2)
e) A triangle has sides 4 cm, 6 cm, 8 cm. It is enlarged by a scale factor of 1.5. Find the sides
of the new triangle. (2)

a) Find the coordinates of the point dividing the line segment joining (2, –1) and (8, 5) in the
ratio 2 : 1 internally. (2)
b) In △PQR, ST ∥ QR, PS = 3 cm, SQ = 6 cm, PT = 4 cm. Find TR. (2)
c) Write the equation of the locus of a point equidistant from (4, 0) and (–4, 0). (2)
d) A bag contains 4 red, 3 blue, and 5 green balls. If one ball is drawn at random, find the
probability that it is:
i) Blue ii) Not green. (2)
e) The product of two consecutive integers is 156. Find the integers. (2)

a) Solve the inequation and represent the solution set on the number line:
3x - 5 > 1 and x + 2 ≤ 8. (4)
b) If f(x) = x³ - 4x² + x + 6, show that x - 2 is a factor and hence factorise completely. (6)
Q5.
a) P = [[3, 4], [1, 2]], Q = [[2, 0], [5, 1]], find PQ. (4)
b) The sum of the first n terms of an AP is Sₙ = n/2(5n + 1). Find:
i) the first term
ii) the common difference
iii) the 8th term. (6)
Q6.
a) Find the equation of a straight line passing through (–1, 3) and (4, –2). (4)
b) A card is drawn from a standard deck of 52 cards. Find the probability that it is:
i) a king
ii) a red card
iii) neither a king nor a red card. (6)
Q7.
a) A triangle has vertices A(1, 1), B(4, 2), and C(2, 5). Find the coordinates of the centroid.

b) The first term of a GP is 2 and the sum of its first three terms is 26. Find the common
ratio. (6)
Q8.
a) A solid metallic sphere of radius 7 cm is melted and recast into small spheres each of
radius 1 cm. Find the number of small spheres formed. (4)
b) The table below shows marks scored by students. Calculate the mean marks using the
assumed mean method:
