Chapter 2: Developing and Implementing Strategic HRM Plans
GROUP PROJECT: HRM PRACTICES AND BUSINESS PERFORMANCE

Your task is to apply the Human Resource Management (HRM) concepts learned in class to analyze a real-
world company. Your final deliverable, due in one week, must be a presentation that demonstrates how HRM
principles are applied in practice, identifies one modern HRM challenge, and proposes a feasible, strategic
solution.
I. PROJECT OBJECTIVES
This project aims to help students:
Apply HRM concepts introduced in the course to real-world business situations.
Evaluate the connection between HRM and organizational performance.
Identify and address contemporary HRM challenges.
Strengthen skills in teamwork, research, and professional presentation.
II. DETAILED REQUIREMENTS
Each group (maximum 4 students) will choose one company (Vietnamese or international). The project will
include three main parts:
Part 1: Company & Context Analysis (30%)
1.1. Company Overview: Provide basic information (history, industry, workforce, market position).
1.2. HRM Environment: Analyze external and internal factors affecting HRM (economic conditions,
technology, labor market, cultural issues). Highlight opportunities and challenges for HRM.
Part 2: Application of HRM Concepts (30%)
2.1. Apply at least 5 course topics (e.g., recruitment, motivation, leadership, training & development,
performance appraisal, employee relations, diversity).
2.2. Assessment: Evaluate how effectively the company implements these practices. Identify both
strengths and weaknesses.
Part 3: Strategic HRM Challenge & Solutions (40%)
3.1. Identify a Challenge: Choose one relevant issue (e.g., digitalization of HRM, talent retention,
remote work, managing diversity, AI in recruitment).
3.2. Propose a Solution: Suggest a strategic HRM initiative aligned with the company’s objectives.
3.3. Action Plan: Provide a concrete plan with steps, a timeline, and KPIs (e.g., reduced turnover,
improved engagement, higher productivity).
III. FORMAT & TIMELINE
Final Deliverable: PowerPoint or Google Slides (10–12 slides).
Timeline (1 week):
o Days 1–2: Select company, research context.
o Days 3–4: Apply HRM concepts and analyze.
o Days 5–6: Develop solutions and action plan.
o Day 7: Finalize slides and rehearse.
IV. EVALUATION CRITERIA
Content (50%): Accuracy, completeness, creativity, and feasibility.
Analysis (30%): Depth of linking theory to practice.
Presentation (20%): Organization, professionalism, clarity, and delivery.
