Microcontroller and Embedded

Systems
What is an Embedded System
• Dedicated to one task
• All h/w required is available on single chip
• Interacts with physical elements (Pressure, temp.) for
measuring, controlling.
An Embedded System is a microprocessor/microcontroller
based system that is embedded as a subsystem, in a larger
system (which may or may not be a computer system).

What is an Embedded System
• Embedded system means the processor is embedded
into that application.
• An embedded product uses a microprocessor or
microcontroller to do one task only.
• In an embedded system, there is only one
application software that is typically burned into
ROM.
• Example : printer, keyboard, video game player,
microwave oven, etc.
