Assignment #3: Brainstorming and Ideation for Your Design Project

Objective:
This assignment is intended to help you generate a wide range of creative ideas for solving the problem you defined. Using
brainstorming and ideation techniques, you will explore multiple possible solutions before selecting the most promising ones
to develop further.
Instructions:
1. Set Up for Brainstorming:
o Begin by reviewing your problem statement and design requirements.
o Gather any materials you might need for brainstorming, like paper, sticky notes, or a digital tool for
recording ideas.
2. Idea Generation (Brainstorming):
o Use Mind Mapping: Start with the problem at the center and branch out with related ideas and solutions.

o Spend 15–20 minutes generating as many ideas as possible without evaluating or censoring them. Aim to
create at least 5 different ideas.
o Record all your ideas, even if they seem impractical or far-fetched. The goal is quantity over quality in this
step.
Deliverable 1:
Submit a mind map of your problem.

Deliverable 2:
Submit a list of at least 5 ideas. Each idea should be briefly described (1–2 sentences).
3. Organize and Refine Ideas:
o Group similar ideas together and identify any patterns or common themes.
o Choose the three most promising ideas based on feasibility, creativity, and alignment with your project
requirements.
Deliverable 3:
Write a short paragraph (3–4 sentences) describing each of the top three ideas and why they were selected as the most viable
options.
4. Visualize Your Top Ideas:
o If possible, create simple sketches or diagrams of your top three ideas. Visuals can help clarify your concepts
and make it easier to compare them.
