INNOVATIVE IDEA

Our innovative idea is to build a small fan that runs directly from solar power using a mini solar
panel and a DC motor. The fan will work when exposed to sunlight or the flashlight on our
phones, generating a breeze with or without needing batteries or plugging into an electric outlet.
This makes the model perfect for use in areas with frequent power outages or places with no
access to electricity, and to save electricity in this hot weather. It's also safe and environmentally
friendly since it doesn't emit harmful gases or rely on fossil fuels.

What makes our idea unique is its simplicity and low cost. We’re not creating a high-tech device,
but a small, working solution that demonstrates a big concept: using clean energy to solve
everyday problems in society. The fan can also be used in classrooms to teach students about
how solar energy works. This hands-on experience can inspire others to think about practical
uses for renewable energy and create their own low-cost green innovations.

Hence, our solar-powered mini fan not only addresses practical needs by providing a reliable,
eco-friendly cooling solution but also serves as an educational catalyst for promoting renewable
energy awareness. Its straightforward design and affordability make it accessible to a wide
audience, encouraging users to embrace clean energy in their daily lives. By demonstrating how
simple technology can harness the power of the sun, our model inspires innovation and
empowers communities to take meaningful steps toward a more sustainable future.

1
IMPLEMENTATION STEPS
•Research and Design – Study basic fan and solar panel mechanics; sketch the model design.
• Procure Materials – Gather small solar panels, fan motors, blades, wiring, switches, and
mounting frames.
•Assembly –
❖ First, we cut and strip wires of appropriate lengths.
❖ Secondly, we ensure the plastic casing has ventilation holes or openings for airflow
❖ Thirdly, prepare mounting points for the solar panel and fan.
❖ Fourth, we connect the positive terminal of the solar panel to the positive terminal of the
fan motor. And, we connect the negative terminal of the solar panel to the negative
terminal of the fan motor, and to the switch.
❖ Fifth, tape connections and insulate exposed wires to prevent short circuits. Use hot glue
to insulate and fix wires in place inside the plastic casing
❖ Six steps: Mount the motor with attached plastic blades firmly onto the plastic base. Place
the capacitor close to the motor inside the casing. And attach the solar panel externally,
ensuring it can receive direct sunlight, or by using the flashlight on your phone.
❖ Seven steps, we use plastic screws or hot glue to secure all components.
•Testing –
❖ We place the solar panel under direct sunlight or use our flashlight on our phone if it’s
working. And the fan should start automatically as solar energy powers the motor.
❖ Additional Notes: Durable plastic materials, lightweight, and commonly used in solar fan
products. Using a capacitor instead of a battery reduces cost and complexity while
allowing short-term power storage in our model.
❖ Hence, our model is eco-friendly and portable, suitable for educational models or small
cooling applications.
❖ Plastic fan blades are pre-made or 3D printed for custom shapes and improved airflow
efficiency
•Adjustments and Improvements – Modify the design based on test results to maximize
performance.
• Presentation – Showcase the working model and explain its features and benefits.

3
TIMELINE

Week 1: Conduct research on solar panels, motors, and basic fan designs.
Week 2: Create a design sketch and buy or gather all materials needed.
Week 3: Assemble the fan and connect the components carefully.
Week 4: Test the fan outdoors in sunlight and make any necessary improvements.
Week 5: Writing our research paper on the results of our model.

Week 6: Prepare our model and research paper to present it.

Each week will have clear goals to ensure the project stays on track. Tasks will be divided
among group members for efficiency. Regular meetings will help check progress and solve any
problems early.

EVALUATION METHODS

4
The success of our solar-powered fan model can be seen in how well the fan operates when
exposed to sunlight or to the flashlight on our phones, including its ability to run smoothly and
provide effective airflow. We will observe if the fan continues to work during brief shading
periods, showing that the capacitor is functioning properly. The durability and stability of the fan
during use will also indicate the quality of our design and assembly. These observations will help
us understand if the model meets our expectations for performance. A well-functioning fan will
be a clear sign that our efforts have paid off.

In addition to the fan’s performance, we will evaluate the success of our teamwork by reflecting
on how engaged and interactive each member was throughout the project. Everyone’s
participation in tasks like assembling, wiring, and testing will demonstrate strong collaboration
and shared responsibility. We will also consider how well we communicated and solved
problems together, which is essential for a smooth workflow. Positive interactions and active
involvement will show that our group worked effectively as a team. This collaborative spirit is
key to achieving a successful outcome.

Lastly, the overall success will be measured by how satisfied we feel with the final product and
what we have learned along the way. If each team member gains confidence in understanding
and explaining how the solar fan works, it will show that the project was a valuable learning
experience. Success will also be reflected in our enthusiasm to continue exploring renewable
energy ideas and improving our skills. When the project inspires motivation and teamwork, it
proves that our combined efforts made a meaningful impact.

CONCLUSION

5
We conclude that our solar-powered fan model offers a simple and sustainable cooling solution
that operates efficiently using only solar energy, with a panel and plastic blades. This innovative
design showcases the practical use of renewable energy in everyday applications, making it an
environmentally friendly alternative to conventional fans. By harnessing sunlight directly, the
fan promotes energy conservation, reduces electricity consumption, and helps address the
discomfort caused by hot weather.

Our model is driving societal change by offering an accessible, eco-friendly cooling solution that
reduces reliance on fossil fuels and empowers energy-vulnerable communities. By harnessing
sunlight through 6V solar panels and energy-efficient DC motors, it provides reliable cooling
without grid electricity, lowering costs and carbon footprints. Its use of durable plastics ensures
affordability and longevity, making it practical for rural or off-grid areas where heat and power
instability threaten health and productivity. The integration of capacitors and switches enhances
energy management, ensuring consistent performance even in variable sunlight. This model not
only addresses immediate cooling needs but also inspires broader adoption of renewable energy,
fostering a culture of sustainability and innovation.

How can people benefit from this model? As what we mentioned it extend beyond the
immediate functionality of the fan; it can help our society by providing an affordable and eco-
friendly way to stay cool during hot weather while saving electricity costs. Our mini solar-
powered fan inspires creativity and innovation, motivating us to explore further advancements in
renewable energy. Ultimately, this project highlights the positive impact that teamwork and eco-
conscious design can have in contributing to a greener, more comfortable, and sustainable
community.

Through our collaborative effort, we expect to build a functional and durable model that
performs reliably under sunlight, demonstrating the success of our teamwork and technical skills.
The process of designing and assembling the fan has strengthened our problem-solving abilities
and encouraged active participation from all team members. This hands-on experience not only
deepens our understanding of solar technology but also fosters a spirit of cooperation and shared
responsibility.
