INTRODUCTION:
The Department Of Parasitology under the course of General Parasitology ,
Helminthology & Malacology arranged a study tour at Upazila Livestock Office,
in Jamalpur.
We, the students of DVM, Level-2, Semester-1, Bangladesh Agricultural
University started our journey at 7:50am and we reached our destination at
10:30am. We had done our breakfast in bus. Two of our course teacher guided
us.
OBJECTIVES:
1. To visit different type of farms(Dairy & Poultry Farms).
2. To know about the common disease in livestock caused by parasite.
3. To encourage our willing to raise a farm.
4. To become a righteous veterinary surgeon

DESCRIPTION: FARM-1
After taking rest at ULO office, we went to first farm named “ Moyna Agro Ltd.”
is owned by Abid Al-Riyad. We viewed some dairy and meat purpose cattle in
that farm. The ULO Dr. Sharif Abdul Baset introduced us to the farm and
discussed the balanced feed ratio for a dairy cattle. He also added some
information about different types of grass (Napier,Smart napier,German, Para
grass) , essential elements(concentrate,Vitamin,Minerals,Fresh water) are
required for healthy herd. Also informed us about the detriment of extreme grass
intake, nitrogen poisoning, sorghum poisoning and importance of snail in
completing parasite life cycle.
FARM-2
Then we visited the next farm named “Master Poultry & Fish Farm”. There we
gained knowledge about the farm type and proper farm management. ULO
discussed the vaccination schedule, effect of light in egg production,FCR &
hygienic management in farm. It is a integrated farming system where 10
thousands layer chicken are rared with culturing fish. We got to know about the
annual income which encourage us to raise a farm. Finishing our visit ,We had
done our lunch at 2:45pm in ULO [Link] the respected officers ULO,ADLO
shared their experienced with us. They explained some common parasitic case
(fascioliasis,Diarrhea,Milk Fever, LSD,FMD) and their preventive measures.
After that, our teachers gave them crest to make the day memorable.

Conclusion:
We came back to our respective bus ,started journey for BAU campus and
reached at 8:[Link] was a memorable tour for us. From that tour we are
encouraged to be a righteous veterinary surgeon. At last we are very much
thankful to our Department.
