Job Aid for L-4 engine Timing Belt Replacement

Water pump inspection & replacement/Timing belt tensioner and balancer belt tensioner inspection

1. Check that the water pump pulley turns
freely, and inspect for signs of leakage.
(Refer to S/M for details)

NOTE:
A small amount of coolant maybe leaking from the
bleed hole on top of the water pump, this is normal.

2. If the water pump is faulty, replace it with a


new one.

NOTE:
When replacing the water pump, bleed the cooling
system properly. Improper bleeding may cause the
engine to overheat.

(1) O-ring (replace with new one)

(3) Bolts: 6 x 1.0 mm, 12 N·m (1.2 kgf·m) (1)

3. Check that the tensioner arm pivots freely, (1)
and that the pulley turns freely and also
check for excessive free play.
