ELECTROMAGNETIC INDUCTION WS S 06

1. A square of side L meters lies in the x−y plane in region where the magnetic field is given by
B=𝐵0(2i+3j+4k) Tesla, where 𝐵0 is constant. Find the magnitude of flux passing through the square ?
2. A square loop of side 10 cm and resistance 0.5Ω is placed vertically in the east-west plane. A uniform
magnetic field of 0.10 T is set up across the plane in the north-east direction. The magnetic field is
decreased to zero in 0.70 s at a steady rate. Determine the magnitudes of induced emf and current
during this time-interval
3. The magnetic field through a circular loop of wire, 12cm in radius and 8.5Ω resistance, changes with
time as shown in the figure. The magnetic field is perpendicular to the plane of the loop. Calculate
the current induced in the loop and plot a graph showing induced current as a function of time.

4. A circular coil of radius 10 cm,500 turns and resistance 2Ω is placed with its plane perpendicular to the
horizontal component of the earth's magnetic field. If is rotated about its vertical diameter
through 1800 in 0.25 s. Estimate the emf & current induced in the coil
(Horizontal component of the earth's magnetic field at that place is 3.0×10−5T).
5. The magnetic flux through a coil perpendicular to its plane is varying according to the relation Φ =
(5𝑡 3 +4𝑡 2 +2t-5) Weber. If the resistant of the coil is 5 ohm, then find the induced current through the
coil at t = 2 sec

outward unit vector normal to the surface of the coil is ( 0.6 i + 0.8 j ) . Then find the magnetic flux
linked with the coil
8. A coil of area 100 cm2 is kept at an angle of 30 with a magnetic field of 10−1 t. the magnetic field is
reduced to zero in 10−4 s. Find the induced emf in the coil
9. A rectangular loop and a circular loop are moving out of a uniform magnetic field to a field-free
region with a constant velocity ‘v’ as shown in the figure. Explain in which loop do you expect the
induced emf to be constant during the passage out of the field region. The magnetic field is normal to
the loops.

10. Two loops of different shapes are moved in the region of a uniform magnetic field pointing
downward. The loops are moved in the direction shown by arrows. What is the direction of induced
current in each loop?

25. The figure shows a square loop L of side 5cm which is connected to a network of resistances. The whole setup is
moving towards right with a constant speed of 1 cms−1. At some instant, a part of L is in a uniform magnetic field of 1T,
perpendicular to the plane of the loop. If the resistance of L is 1.7Ω, Find the current in the loop ?

perpendicular directions as shown in the figure. if the ends A and C of the rails are short cicuited, find the external
force & Power required to move the rod with velocity v= 10 cm/s
