Subject:

TYPIFICATION OF
GRAINS

Definition of Typification: This subject deals with the knowledge of the type, which is one of the factors of
classification of grains since it is a genetic quality of each species or variety, that is
transmits by inheritance.
Grain classification involves sorting batches according to their different characteristics.

Importance of Typification: It is due to the fact that there are grains of the same species with shape and
similar characteristics, but belonging to different types.

Hard Corn: All corns whose grains are of a horny nature are classified in this type.
predominantly glassy and with a smooth surface.

Dent Corn
They are classified into this type all those corns whose grains are characterized by having the central part
starchy in nature and have a groove at the crown or top of them.

Oats:
White Oats: grayish white in color, in some varieties yellowish white.
When the Superior Flosculus (Lesser) separates, it remains without a rachis, which stays attached to the inferior.
(Mayor) on the inner side.

Yellow Oat: yellow-reddish in color.

When the two Floscules separate, the raquilla remains attached to the Upper (Minor)

the following shades stand out: dark, light, yellowish, and grayish whitish.

Rice: Rice is a cereal considered a staple food in many culinary cultures;
especially Asian cuisine and in some parts of Latin America. Rice is the second cereal
more produced in the world, behind corn.
The usual categorization of rice by its shape is as follows:

1) Length Width (Double Carolina): It includes cultivars whose Length-Width ratio is 3:1
2) Fine Length: It includes the cultivars whose Length-Width ratio is 4:1
3) Medium (Carolina): It includes the cultivars whose Length–Width ratio is 3:1
4) Short or Japanese: Includes the cultivars whose Length-Width ratio is 2:1.

according to sample.
the bean is sold by weight, which is the classification based on size, it is based on the
count of grains present in a representative fraction of the sample, thus determining categories
called: extra, superior and medium.

OPERATION: Manually homogenize and quarter 100 grams and count the grains. The sample must be
cleared of foreign materials and broken pieces.

Calidades: extra hasta 190 granos, superior hasta 220 granos y media más de 220 granos

CLASSIFICATION: Medium Category (more than 220 grains)

The cheeky peanut is classified into:

Peanut for selection industry: Due to its characteristics, it will give rise, after a selection process, to the peanut.
confectionery.
Peanuts for the oil industry: it is the one intended for the extraction of oil and by-products.
Candy-coated peanuts: it is one that, due to its characteristics of cleanliness, hygiene, and homogeneity, acquired from
through the selection process, it is suitable for direct human consumption.
They can be color: red or pink and are marketed according to their grain size (size). The categories are identified
by the number of whole grains present in an ounce. (ounce = 28.35 grams).
For the categories from 40 grains to 80 grains, they are staggered by 10s, and higher values by 20s.
