II. DESCRIPTION OF THE SUBJECT
The subject is offered to the student of the Faculty of Engineering at the School
Civil Engineering professional in the second year, first semester, the contents of
this discipline has been formulated on the basis of theoretical considerations
relevant methodologies in the treatment of matrices and determinants, spaces
vectorial, linear transformations and the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of a
matrix, contents that will help the civil engineering student for better management of
variables in multiple dimensions, as well as based on the development of their
complementary subjects to it.

III. GENERAL OBJECTIVES

At the end of the course, the student will be able to perform operations with matrices.
find the value of a determinant of order n, solve a system of equations
linear, recognize whether a system of linear equations is consistent or not, apply
correctly vector spaces and subspaces, establish the dependency or
linear independence of vectors applying them among other things to the determination of
bases and generators of vector spaces, handling linear transformations and their
respective associated matrices, determine eigenvalues and eigenvectors of matrices and
transformations, finding bases in a vector space, diagonalizing matrices and
apply the eigenvectors and eigenvalues to a system of differential equations

IV. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

Upon concluding the study of the subject, the promoted student will be in a position
de:
4.1. Correctly calculate inverses of matrices and determinants of matrices.
4.2. Correctly analyze the consistency and inconsistency of a system
linear equations.
4.3. Analyze and interpret the concepts of: vector subspace, independence and
linear dependence, basis and dimension.

a change of basis, image, and nucleus of a linear application.
4.5. Use the criteria for diagonalization of matrices through eigenvalues correctly
