Class 10 Mathematics – Board Level Practice Test

(Set 2)
Maximum Marks: 80
Time: 3 Hours

Section A (1 mark each)

1. Find the HCF of 65 and 117 using Euclid’s division lemma.
2. If α and β are the zeroes of the polynomial 2x² – 5x + 3, find the value of (α + β) and αβ.
3. Solve graphically: x + y = 5, x – y = 1 (no need to plot, just mention the solution).
4. Find the distance between the points (–6, 8) and (–3, –4).
5. A die is thrown once. Find the probability of getting (i) a prime number, (ii) a number greater than
4.

Section B (2 marks each)

6. The LCM of two numbers is 495 and their HCF is 5. If one number is 55, find the other.
7. Find the zeroes of the polynomial x² – 7x + 12 and verify the relationship between zeroes and
coefficients.
8. Two different dice are rolled together. Find the probability of getting: (i) sum = 10, (ii) a doublet.
9. In ∆PQR, ∠Q = 90°. If PQ = 12 cm and QR = 5 cm, find sinP and cosP.
10. Find the coordinates of the centroid of the triangle whose vertices are (–1, 3), (3, –2), (–3, –4).

Section C (3 marks each)

11. Solve the pair of linear equations by substitution: 2x + 3y = 11, 2x – 4y = –24.
12. Draw the graph of the equations: 2x + y = 6, 2x – y = 2. Also, find the coordinates of the point
where the two lines intersect.
13. A card is drawn at random from a pack of 52 cards. Find the probability of getting: (i) neither a
red card nor a king, (ii) a black face card.
14. The following distribution table represents the marks obtained by students. Find the mean
marks using the assumed mean method:
Marks: 0–10, 10–20, 20–30, 30–40, 40–50, 50–60
Frequency: 5, 8, 10, 7, 10, 10.
15. Draw a histogram for the following data:
Class Interval: 0–10, 10–20, 20–30, 30–40, 40–50
Frequency: 6, 10, 12, 8, 4.

Section D (4 marks each)

16. Find the roots of the quadratic equation 3x² – 2√6x + 2 = 0.
17. From a solid sphere of radius 7 cm, a right circular cone of height 7 cm is carved out. Find the
volume of the remaining solid.

18. The following table gives the daily wages of 50 workers of a factory. Find the median wages of
the workers:
Wages: 0–100, 100–200, 200–300, 300–400, 400–500, 500–600
No. of Workers: 5, 10, 10, 10, 10, 5.

19. The angle of elevation of the top of a tower from a point on the ground, which is 30 m away from
the foot of the tower, is 30°. Find the height of the tower. Also, find the angle of elevation of the top
of the tower from a point 30 m further away from the first point.

20. A bag contains 5 red balls and some blue balls. If the probability of drawing a blue ball is twice
that of a red ball, find the number of blue balls in the bag.
