Chapters: Polynomials, Lines and Angles, Heron’s Formula, Number System

Section A: Objective Type (1 mark each)

1. If one zero of the polynomial p(x) = x² - 5x + 6 is 2, then find the other zero.
2. The sum of two supplementary angles is: (a) 180° (b) 90° (c) 360° (d) 0°
3. Write the value of √50 in simplest radical form.
4. The sides of a triangle are 7 cm, 24 cm, and 25 cm. Find its area using Heron’s Formula.
5. If α, β are the zeros of x² - 7x + 10, then find α + β and αβ.
6. Which of the following is an irrational number? (a) 5/2 (b) 0.333… (c) √7 (d) 2.25

Section B: Short Answer Type (2 marks each)

7. Divide x³ - 3x² + x + 2 by x - 2.
8. In ∆ABC, if ∠A = 70° and ∠B = 60°, find ∠C. Name the type of triangle.
9. Find the area of an equilateral triangle of side 10 cm using Heron’s Formula.
10. Express 0.2353535… in the form p/q.
11. If p(x) = 2x³ + 3x² - 11x + 6, find the remainder when divided by (x - 1).
12. Two parallel lines are cut by a transversal. Prove that alternate interior angles are equal.

Section C: Long Answer Type (3–4 marks each)

13. Factorise: x³ - 23x + 60.
14. The lengths of the sides of a triangle are 13 cm, 14 cm, and 15 cm. Find its area using Heron’s
Formula.
15. Construct a polynomial whose zeros are -2 and 3. Verify the relation between coefficients and
zeros.
16. A card is drawn from a pack of 52 cards. Find the probability that the card is: (i) a red card (ii) a
king (iii) neither red nor king.
17. If two parallel lines are intersected by a transversal, prove that the sum of the interior angles on
the same side of the transversal is 180°.
18. Without using long division, prove that √5 is irrational.

Section D: HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills)

19. A park in the shape of a quadrilateral has sides 36 m, 77 m, 75 m, and 40 m. One of its
diagonals is 75 m. Find the area of the park.
20. The sum of the squares of two consecutive positive integers is 365. Find the integers.
