CHAPTER I.

INTRODUCTION

1.1. Problem statement

At the National University of Cajamarca, there are two buildings which

They are from systems engineering and human medicine who want to connect.
with a fiber optic network, which will be implemented thus helping about
500 students between both faculties. Since neither of them has a network.
efficient to meet the needs of students.
Is the implementation of a network for ING of systems and medicine necessary?
human?
After conducting a thorough analysis, we found some problems that
the following are mentioned:
Unsafe wiring
Poor distribution of equipment
Poorly installed and unsafe electrical cables
Difficulty accessing the internet
Waste of time for the execution of activities
Slowdown in the processes
On the other hand, we see the difficulty that students have in accessing
internet during study hours, since the lack of connectivity makes it difficult for them to do

their activities faster. This way, each of the students accelerates their
processes and procedures that develop in the laboratory area
computations.

On the other hand, we have observed that in the design of the current network it was not considered

it accounts for the final disposition of the equipment and the network as such, which interferes with

the proper management of the area.

1.2. Problem formulation

Currently, in the Systems Engineering buildings, as well as in
in Medicine, there is no correct standard and management regarding a
effective structured cabling, for which it is intended to implement a
structured cabling prototype for both buildings of each faculty
already mentioned, therefore they will also share said wiring, so that
information can be exchanged between both faculties, including
cameras on each floor in both faculties, for security of
each student.

1.3. Justification of the research

Today's organizations are growing rapidly and their needs

infrastructure grows with them. Regarding the
universities, students need a wiring infrastructure
high-performance professional that matches your needs
techniques and their level of social responsibility.
On the other hand, information technologies (IT) seem to be a
essential tool to help facility managers
university students to achieve their goals, such as providing students
the highest quality in the provision of these services and to make that
quality should be compatible with maximum efficiency. They constitute

tools for improving service delivery and management

university student.

multimedia, data network, making it necessary to use a cabling system
structured advanced capacity to support the needs of
communication from a university.
1.3.2. Social justification
The main beneficiaries will be the students of the faculty of
medicine because the quality of its infrastructure will be optimal not
not only for your proper learning but also for an optimal
provision of services.
[Link] justification
Its aim is to reduce the economic and operational impact by means of the
design.
suitable for structured cabling systems because such
systems support a wide range of applications that include voice,
data, text, image, video, etc. Additionally, it will allow connecting and
put into use the new communication technologies.
1.4. Scope or delimitation of the research
It is about the scope of the optimization of structured cabling of
building of Systems Engineering, implemented from the first floor,
to the top floor, taking into account the classrooms, laboratories, and centers
of study, for each floor. Also, the implementation of wiring
structured for the Faculty of Human Medicine, for which it does not have
implemented, since it will be over each classroom that has the
technological implementation or technological equipment, on offices of
computing and also, for the video surveillance of these.
Limitations
the main limitations presented by structured cabling design in
the faculty of human medicine is access to the required information such is the
case of the budget plans

THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK

2.1. Background

2.1.1. International Background:

In the thesis titled "Structured Cabling Project and
network design of Bankcolombia from the school of systems engineering
of the Remington University Corporation - Medellín. In this project
It was demonstrated that the design of a network implementation, no one
it has the final word, therefore, it is necessary to know precisely the
existing regulations, adhere to the rules issued by the
national and international governing bodies, as well as resorting to
experience and good common sense. On the other hand, when selecting
hardware and software, the ideal is to choose the best and the most...
accommodate our needs. One should never acquire elements of
second hand as they can become very expensive in the future
immediate, (Luis Goyes Alvarado, 2007).
They completed a thesis titled 'Design of a model of'
unified communications to improve information management in
the National University of Huancavelica 2014 - Huancavelica Region
from the School of Systems Engineering of the National University of
Huancavelica.
In this project, it is expected that the communication network of the University
National of Huancavelica unifies and the services it provides to
the student community becomes more effective; in addition to streamlining their

processes are expected to improve student satisfaction at the

time to go to the University to carry out your administrative procedures
and academics, (Salvatierra E, Bujaico J, Quispe C, Tumialan Y, Perales
W. 2014).
He completed a thesis titled 'Study and Design to Improve the'
interconnection of the video terminals of the company Lotteries of
Peru s.a. at the Trujillo headquarters" Made by the professional school of
electronic engineering of the Private University Antenor Orrego.
this project demonstrated that, from the collected information,
regarding the breakdowns of the video lottery terminals (VLT), of

were due to imperfections in interconnection cables and the position of

the Data and Power cables respectively, as well as due to failures of the
interconnection cards. Also, what could be improved in the
the interconnection system was regarding the change from RS-232 card to
RS485, since this interface does not need to work with the signals of
control sent by the serial port of the Control Board, (Carranza C,

Structured Cabling Standards:

1. ANSI/TIA –568–C Standards: This standard replaces the
ANSI/EIA/TIA-568-B published in 2001. The purpose of the standard
ANSI/EIA/TIA-568-C. is described in the following document
Standard for Generic Telecommunications Cabling
for Client Installations.

2. ANSI/TIA–568–C.0 Standards: This standard is focused on specifying

requirements for all generic telecommunications cabling. Between
the specifications of this standard contain the requirements
for the structure of the cabling system, topologies, and distances,
installation, performance and testing, in addition to including that the distances

horizontals are not restricted to 100 m and can reach up to 300 m

since companies require large distances between the equipment
assets and the output of the equipment, so they benefit from this
standard.

The standard also indicates a base model to represent the

functional elements of a generic cabling system. They
composed of functional elements such as equipment outputs,
distributors, wiring subsystems that together form a
generic telecommunications cabling system.

CHAPTER IV. METHODOLOGY

4.1. Type, level, design, and method of research

The research focuses on solving a practical problem
through the use of technological knowledge. The objective is
implement a structured cabling design to improve
significantly the data communication in the Faculty of Medicine
Human and in the Faculty of Systems Engineering. It is about a
applied technological research, since it seeks to solve a problem
specific through the use of technology.
4.2. Study Population

For the development of the research, all were taken as the population.
the students and the administrative and service staff of the Faculty
of Medicine and the Faculty of Systems Engineering. Each of these
individuals use one or more devices that have access to the network of
communications. It was considered that this population was relevant for the
study because they all use devices that need
access the communication network and, therefore, could benefit from
an improvement in the quality and efficiency of that network.
4.3. Sample
To carry out the sample selection in this study, it was decided to
to use the non-probabilistic method, which means that they will not apply
statistical formulas for selecting the individuals who will make up
the sample. The sample consists of 10 students from each
faculty, as well as 3 users from the administrative staff. These
selected individuals will participate in a survey about
quality and performance of the communications network. This has been chosen
methodology because it allows obtaining valuable information about
the opinion and perception of users regarding the quality and performance of
the communication network.
4.4. Unit of analysis

the unit of analysis of this research work is the users

that they use a port or access point to access the network
present in the faculty of medicine and the faculty of engineering of
systems
4.5. Techniques and instruments for data collection
To carry out this study, two data collection techniques have been used.
of data: the survey and the observation guides. The survey is a
technique applied to a selected sample of individuals
previously and consists of asking them a series of questions
standardized to obtain quantitative measures of a wide
variety of objective and subjective characteristics of the population of
study. On the other hand, the observation guides are a set of
detailed instructions that are used to observe and record from
systematic manner the behavior of the study population. Both
techniques are very useful for gathering information about use and
network performance of the communications at the Faculty of Medicine and the
School of Systems Engineering.
