5.1. Overview of infrastructure of a S.C.E.

The architecture and topology of the Generic Data Network follows the hierarchical scheme in
tree that describes the UNE EN 50173 standard and is configured into three subnets:
Vertical Subsystem (SV) (trunk or backbone of the building), which allows the connection of
the different plants of the building.
-Horizontal Subsystem (SH), which allows connecting the plant distributor with the
User terminal. The following figure shows a diagram of the
subsystems of a generic structured cabling and the functional elements that
they are composed of.

5.2. Description of functional elements

The functional elements of a generic structured cabling infrastructure are

the following:
Building Distributor (BD): is the element that serves to interconnect the
communications of the building with the main network of the Campus.
Vertical or backbone cabling of the building: it is the set of cables used to
carry out the interconnection between the Building Distributor and the Distributors of
Plants existing in the building.
Plant Distributor (PD): it is the element that serves to interconnect the
users with the access equipment of the communication network and with the backbone
vertical of the building.
Horizontal Cabling: it is the set of cables used to interconnect the
Plant distributor with user outlets, to provide access to
telecommunications services.
Consolidation Point (CP): it is used to adapt different cable positions.

User Outlet (TU): it is the fixed connection device used to connect the
user equipment to the voice and data communication network.
The campus, building, and plant distributors are made up of a
set of distribution cabinets with distribution panels, for both cable of
copper as for optical fiber. The following figure is shown schematically.

5.3. Technology in the transmission medium

5.3.1. Twisted pair cable

The twisted pair cable is configured by pairs of braided wires. This braiding
maintains stable electrical properties along the entire length of the cable and
reduces the interference created by adjacent wires. There are three types of cables
by twisting:
- No shielding (UTP, Unshielded Twisted Pair) Consists of one or more pairs
braided, insulated with a plastic coating, does not incorporate a metal screen.
This cable has less protection against electromagnetic interference.
external and is flexible and manageable for installation.
Shielded (STP, Shielded Twisted Pair) consists of a metallic shielding that surrounds the
twisted pairs protecting them against electromagnetic interference.
- Global Screen (FTP, Foiled Twisted Pair) consists of copper wires insulated by
a plastic cover interwoven with each other. Because there may be couplings.
among peers, these intertwine with different steps.
The horizontal cabling to be installed will be, due to its specific characteristics, the cable
Category 6 UTP twisted pair that supports the 1000Base-TX standard (Gigabit)
Ethernet.

5.4. Infrastructure of the projected facility

5.4.1. Network design criteria

The network to be designed:

He must respond to the services demanded by the district municipality of

Daniel Hernández, who have an increasing need for flow
communications.
It is an access, switching, and IP transport network that facilitates the process of
progressive convergence of services using the same infrastructure of
switching and transport of IP network for data and internet services.
Must use the most modern 'all IP' telecommunications technology.
It must provide solutions to the shortcomings of Internet connection services
broadband produced due to the capillarization of the networks of the
existing operators today have not kept up with the requirements
of connection that users demand.
The network design has been carried out based on:
1. The telecommunication services to be provided through the network.
2. The interconnection needs with other networks that are service providers
internet connection.

5.5. Hierarchical description of the data network

The present structured cabling project has planned a network of

interconnection that is connected to a Main Router (RP) for the core layer,
that the signal is distributed through the vertical network to the secondary switches (SD) of the layer of
distribution, one per floor, and from there, serving the horizontal subnetworks. The
Red Horizontal of each floor distributes the signals from the secondary splitters
up to the User Terminals (TT), going through the area distributors.
Therefore, adapting the structured cabling infrastructure system and the
hierarchical network design for the facilities of the district municipality of Daniel
Hernández, we have the following scheme:
5.6. Description of the subnets

5.6.1. Interconnection Network.

The Service Provider Interconnection Subsystem supports installations

(installation, cabling, equipment, ...) of telecommunications operators. It is the
in charge of driving to the main communications cabinet or Distributor of
Interconnection the wiring of each of these providers, from the point of
entry that it has in the building, as well as hosting the customer equipment
that enables access to communication services. The subsystem provides, by
on one side, connection infrastructures for wired access to the corporate network,
giving rise to facilities that connect the Interconnection Distributor with the
external incident of the building. The Interconnection Distributor, although it is defined as
independent functional element must be implemented as cabinet units
reserved in boxes housed in the Campus Distributor of the property (in the case
from this Project, the communications room will house a rack for interconnection
with the Service Provider, independent of the communications room of the building
In this way, the sizing criteria for the RX provided in this document
refer to the wardrobe units that will have to be dedicated to the
interconnection distributor functionality to house the network equipment of the
service providers (routers, media converters, PTRs, etc.) This subsystem
prevent the need for new pipe and duct installations for the
provision of the service by the providers of corporate network. The Subsystem
Interconnection includes: a) The link infrastructures from outside the building
and the cover up to the Interconnection Distributor (RX). b) The Distributor of
Interconnection (RX), which provides the necessary space to house the client equipment.
what the corporate network providers will install. - Design and Sizing
requires that in the highest hierarchical distributor of the headquarters (WAN Distributor)
there are 6 units of 6U height cabinet for wired access, and 6 units
from the cabinet (6U) for radio access. In addition, the following elements will be used:
- Metal pass-throughs of 1U - Schuko socket base, with 6 outlets, equipped with
take a socket and bipolar luminous switch with operation indicator.
bases will have side brackets for horizontal mounting on 19" racks.

5.6.2. Main Communications Room

The Main Communications Room (SCP) will be a compartment dedicated exclusively

telecommunications equipment. The elements will be installed in this room
necessary for the implementation of the structured cabling system, as well as the
network electronics needed.
It will be the control center of the entire network of the district municipality building.

information to be placed in the room.
Equipment
It is recommended to equip the SCP with the following infrastructures:
Access ramp for equipment, covered in Pirelli rubber or similar, at 20º
inclination as maximum.
Independent air conditioning system. The supply and return units of
air will be equipped with fire doors. The ventilation cabins will be
equipped with filters to prevent impurities from entering the rooms. The system of
climate control will maintain the room temperature between +5º and +30ºC
and the relative humidity of the air below 85%.
A general lighting system will be installed to ensure an average level of illumination.

inert gas fire, as well as a portable extinguisher fixed to the wall. In addition,
must have an automatic fire detection system (detector of
smoke and thermal-velocimetric detectors) and alarm push buttons, connected to the central unit
of the building alarms.

5.6.3. Red Trunk

The Backbone Network, Backbone or Vertical Network, extends from the fourth of
communications up to the plant distributor. This connects the Main Switch of the
Central Rack of the Communications Room with the Secondary Switches of the layer
of distribution, located on the different floors of the facilities of the
district municipality of Daniel Hernández.
The vertical cabling will be done according to the mesh topology for the connection of
switch a switch, with transition points being strictly prohibited,
splices or insertion of devices. The trunk subsystem of the building has
designed through a network of gutters, in the sections where the installation runs
through the ceiling, and through ducting, in the sections where the installation runs in the
verticals, built into the wall. For the selection of the system, it has been taken into account
it accounts for various factors:
Weight and diameter of the cables planned for the installation and future expansions.
Possible distance between supports or support points.
Corrosion protection.
