DAILY ROUTINE

Task 1: Listen and complete the following text.

Hey everybody, welcome to this A1 English listening practice video. You can use
this video to practice your listening and comprehension as I speak. You ready? So,
today I'm going to talk about my daily routine.
My ____________________(1) is different on weekdays and weekends. I'll tell
you about my routine on weekdays. So, I normally ____________________(2) at
about 6 or 6.15 a.m. I like waking up early. I don't like ___________________(3)
late. When I wake up, the first thing I do is read my Bible.
Then, I _______________(4) languages for a little while. Currently, I'm studying
Indonesian. I like to study _______________________________(5) because I feel
motivated. Other people ______________________ (6) studying in the evening.
Do you like studying in the morning, afternoon, or evening?
So, after I study, I usually eat some fruit. This is my first __________________ (7)
of the day. Then, I start my work. I usually start __________________________
(8) at 7.30 a.m. Most other people start at 8 a.m. or 9 a.m. I like starting early
though.
I'm an ____________________________________ (9) and I teach many students.
I have different students every day. Some days I have many classes and other days
I have fewer classes. Most of my students are from Brazil and Russia, but I have
students from many other countries too.
Every day, I ________________________ (10) people from all over the world.
This is really fun. I _________________ (11) my job. So, during my workday, I
have some breaks. Sometimes, I have a 30-minute break between classes. During
my breaks, I eat, study, and _______________________________ (12) my wife.
My last class usually ends at 4.30 or 5 p.m. Many Americans
______________________ (13) work at 5 p.m. After I get off work, I eat dinner.
My wife cooks dinner every weekday, so we eat at home. I'm always
________________ (14) when I finish work.

1
In the US, people___________________________ (15) early, like at 6 p.m. This is
very common. In other countries, people eat dinner late, like at 9 p.m. I don't like
this. For us, dinner is the biggest meal of the day. We eat a lot for dinner.
My wife and I eat meat, vegetables, and other food. Some days, I
_________________________ (16) in the evening too. I don't exercise every day,
only some days. I should exercise more though. After I exercise and eat dinner, I
eat _____________________________ (17).
I normally have milk and cookies. I love ____________________ (18) and
cookies. After dessert, I study my languages more. Then, I spend time with my
wife. Lastly, I ______________________________ (19), brush my teeth, and get
ready for bed. I usually go to bed __________________________ (20).
So, that's my normal routine on weekdays. I like to have a consistent routine. I plan
my days and I try to follow my plan. Some people don't like planning their days.
They prefer to do different things every day.
I like doing different things too, but I like having a general plan to follow. If I don't
have a general plan, I feel lost. I like having a daily routine. However, on the
weekends, I do many different activities.
My weekends are very different from my weekdays. But I always wake up and go
to bed at the same time every day. That doesn't change. I like to start and end every
day at the same time. Okay, that's all for today.
Leave a comment and tell me if you have a daily routine. I'll see you next time.

This is a good topic because everyone ______________________ (1) having free
time.
I love having free time, and you probably do too.
So first, let's talk about how much ________________________ (2) people have.
Most children have more free time than adults.
When you're a kid, you don't have the responsibilities that an adult has.
Kids have to work, pay the bills, and
______________________________________ (3).
Kids usually don't have to do these things.
Kids usually have to go to school and
___________________________________________ (4).

This can be difficult, but it's usually not that difficult. So children have more free
time. When I was a kid, I had a lot of free time.
I got home from school around 2 or 3 pm, and after that, I played a lot.
On weekdays, from Monday to Friday, I probably had around 4 or 5 hours of free
time each day. Sometimes, I got bored because I had so much free time. But as I
got older, I had more homework each year. So each year, I had a little less free
time. I didn't have too much homework though. In the US, we don't get that much
homework. In some other countries, children have a lot of homework.
I'm glad that my schoolwork wasn't very hard. On weekends, I had even more free
time. On Saturday and Sunday, I did many activities. Students were the best
because I had all day __________________________ (5) and rest. I really liked
weekends, and I still do. Now that I'm an adult, I don't have a lot of free time. I
have to work and do many other things. I usually
______________________________ (6) early, like at 7 am or 730 am. So I have
to wake up around 6 am. When I was a kid, I slept more. I usually slept for
___________________________ (7)every night. As an adult, I don't sleep 8 hours
every night. I usually get 7 hours or 7 and a half hours of sleep. How about you?
How many hours of sleep do you get?
So after I _______________________________ (8), I have some free time in the
evening. However, I usually do some extra work or study during this time. I have
to make these YouTube videos and Instagram videos, and I also study foreign
languages. At night, I have some free time to just _____________________ (9).
My wife and I spend the evenings together and enjoy this time. Okay, now let's talk
about some popular activities that people do in their free time. For example, many
people like to_____________________________ (10) or exercise in their free
time. When I was a kid, I played a lot of sports. I played basketball, baseball,
tennis, soccer, football, and golf. I really liked playing sports in my free time.
But as an adult, I don't play any sports. I'm not very
____________________________ (11) playing sports nowadays. However, I
exercise in my free time. I work out almost every day, but just for a short time.
Other people spend a lot of time exercising. So another activity that people do in
their free time is watch TV shows and movies. Many people do this in their free
time. I know some people who _________________________ (12) many hours of
TV every day. I don't watch a lot of TV or movies. I really like
_______________________ (13) in my free time. I play chess online, but I'm not

very good. I also like playing board games with my family. We play games like
katan and codenames.
Do you like playing board games?
One last activity that most people do in their free time is
__________________________ (14). This is probably the most common activity
that people do. I spend a lot of time on the internet. Some days, I spend too much
time on the internet. This is not good to spend all day inside on the computer. We
should try to ____________________________ (15) and do other activities too.
But the internet is very entertaining, so it's easy to spend many hours surfing the
web. Okay, now I'm going to ask you some questions about the video to see if you
understood.
Write your answers in a comment down below.
