Topic: What are the benefits of regular physical exercise for teenagers?
Regular physical exercise for teenagers can be highly beneficial since it can reduce
their risk of disease and help them manage stress. Regular physical activity helps
strengthen the cardiovascular system, thereby improving heart health and reducing the
risk of cardiovascular diseases, including heart attacks and strokes. According to the
NHS: “Exercise can reduce your risk of early death by 30%” (NHS). Exercise increases
the heart rate, promoting better blood circulation and ensuring that oxygen and essential
nutrients are delivered more efficiently throughout the body. This enhanced circulation
not only boosts overall energy levels but also supports the function of vital organs,
contributing to improved health and longevity. Moreover, physical exercise is an
effective way to relieve stress. While doing exercise, our bodies release chemicals that
increase the sense of reward and enjoyment. This, in turn, can help teenagers who are
struggling with their assignments to feel more relieved and have better mental health.
Research in 2018 showed that “1.2 million teenagers who exercised experienced 43
percent fewer days of poor mental health each month compared to those who didn’t”
(Chekroud et al.). The research showed that exercising frequently helps teenagers
improve their mental health and helps reduce their stress. In conclusion, regular
physical exercise provides teenagers with both better physical health and better mental
health.
