Debate About Learning Modality

GILVERT: Good morning, everyone! For our Presentation, we will show a simple
debate about our learning system. For today’s debate, we will have 2 sides, Those
in favor of face-to-face classes and those in favor of online classes.

GILVERT: To formally start our debate, I would like to ask the 2 sides why you
chose that side. I will give you 10 seconds to arrange and prepare your thoughts.
Now let's hear the opinions of both sides.

CRIS ANGELO: If I were to choose which learning modality to implement, I prefer

the Face-to-Face learning modality because here you can see the students'
progress. Unlike online classes, you can't see all of your students so you don't
know who is listening and who isn't listening to you.
GILVERT: Now let's hear the opinion of the other side.

CHRISTIAN PAUL: For me, online classes are better. Because if we can't attend the
class right away or we're late, we can still join the class when it's an online class.
But if it is face to face, we may not be allowed to enter our classrooms especially
when the school rules are strict.

GILVERT: And now that we have an idea about the two sides, we can move on to
the formal question. The first question, what is the better learning modality when
there are Activities?

CHRISTIAN PAUL: For me, it's better if the activities are online, because the
children have more time at home, they don't have distractions from their
classmates. And when online, students' time is more flexible. why? because they
are not obliged to go to school. For example, if our activities are online, stress will
be reduced and they will have more time to do activities because they will not
have to think about waking up in the morning and commuting to school.

GILVERT: Now let's hear the other side's comment

CRIS ANGELO: For me, it is better if the activities are done face to face. Because if
the activities are done online, the children will be shyer because they cannot
socialize with their classmates and teachers. Unlike face to face, because if the
activities are face to face, the children will socialize more and they will be able to
practice their socializing skills.

GILVERT: Now that the two sides have finished arguing, one of our guests will
make a comment

VANN ALBERT: As a student who has experienced both face-to-face and online
classes, I see that both arguments have a point. If I were the leader of Deped's
Committee, I would have let the students choose what learning modality they
prefer.

GILVERT: thanks for your nice comment, Vann Albert. Now let's move on to the
next question. Which is the most effective learning modality so that children can
be mentally and physically healthy?

CRIS ANGELO: When Face to face, students can better keep themselves physically
and mentally healthy. Physically healthy, If the children are in school, they will be
more physically fit because the simple going down and going up the stairs of the
buildings and walking inside the campus is exercise. But with online classes, there
is not much movement in the children's bodies that can weaken their resistance
because they don't get proper sunlight which can also weaken their resistance.

CHRISTIAN PAUL: I think it is difficult to keep students physically fit during online
classes but they can be mentally healthy. Because they join and participate in
online classes provided by their teachers.

CRIS ANGELO: How can you make sure that the people you talk to on zoom are
mentally healthy? Well, we can't see the people we're talking to. Children can be
seen better and kept mentally healthy when face to face because you can talk to
them personally. If children socialize when the class is face to face, we can see
that their mental health will be healthier later on.

GILVERT: Now we are done with each side's argument. Before we continue to the
next topic, Wreian Angelo Salazar will give a comment about the argument that
happened between the two sides.

WREIAN ANGELO: In the argument that happened, I'm more in favor of face-to-
face classes, because if you don't actually talk to the students personally, you
won't know the state of their mental and physical health.
GILVERT: Thanks for a nice comment Wreian Angelo, Now let's move on to our
last topic. Which is a more budget friendly learning modality? Face to Face classes
or Online Classes?

CHRISTIAN PAUL: For me, online class is more budget friendly. Because we will
eliminate the cost of transportation, and pocket money for food. If the class is
face to face, we will spend more on our next trips to school. But if we're an online
class, we're just at home and we don't have to spend much because we can't go
out.

CRIS ANGELO: But what about the electric bill? for me, we can spend the same or
even higher in the online class because of the electric bills and include the
internet bill as well. Because laptops, desktops, and other gadgets are alive every
day, we may spend more on online classes. If we save money, I'm sure we can
save enoughon both learning modalities.

GILVERT: Now the argument is over. Before we end our little debate, we will give
a conclusion about the topic that was debated.

GILVERT: Face to face classes and online classes bring us something good. If we
follow the rules of these two learning modalities and have self-discipline, we are
sure that we can survive this school year even if our learning modality is blended
until next year. But if we were the one to decide, we would prefer to follow the
wishes of each student and teacher.

AND THAT'S ALL FOR OUR PRESENTATION, THANK YOU FOR LISTENING!
