Hey everyone, this is Susie. I'm a sophomore and study in accounting.
Now I am an active
member in the accounting club. When I was a freshman, I spent a lot of time exploring what I
really wanted to do and where my true passion laid. Over the past year, I tried joining different
organizations on my own, trying new things like attending a dance workshop, baking, and
traveling to various places. I found that being part of a supportive family on campus, where I can
feel connected and give back, is what I truly value. This summer, I had the opportunity to intern
at Deloitte, where I gained hands-on experience in risk assessment and process improvement.
At Deloitte, I primarily participated in audit work and had to analyze financial data with my
team. Since interns joined at different times, we received different levels of pre-job training. Our
biggest challenge was ensuring accuracy while completing tasks under tight deadlines. To solve
this, I actively discussed workload distribution with my mentor. As one of the earlier
participants, I had accumulated experience on several cases. Based on my work experience, I
designed a checklist and shared it with the team. This checklist outlined all documents required
for the audit process and highlighted key points needing review. This approach not only helped
me stay organized but also enabled the team to efficiently identify missing documentation.
Through this experience, I gained a deep appreciation for the importance of planning,
communication, and teamwork. It also made me more confident in presenting my ideas during
group discussions when facing challenges.
After my Deloitte internship, I set clear goals: to pursue my CPA certification, start in
accounting, and eventually transition into consulting. I know this requires not only technical
skills but also strong leadership, communication, and a diverse network.
That’s why AKPsi stood out to me. From info night and meet-and-greets, I could feel the sense
of family, diversity, and support that members spoke about. I want to contribute my passion and
teamwork to this brotherhood, while also growing my confidence and cross-disciplinary
knowledge. I believe AKPsi will help me integrate leadership, cooperation and professionalism
— and finally prepare me to become a strong, confident business leader.
