INTRODUCTION

The EcoDevelopment Agency is a non profit environmental organization that was established in

2000, they supports projects and campaigns that promotes proper waste disposal and

management. Its mission is to encourage communities and schools to being more eco-friendly

and to ensure a cleaner, safer and healthier environment. The foundation also actively supports

other projects that encourage environmental care.

The agency that the proponents represents, the GreenYouths organization formed their group in

2025 to promote cleanliness and order within the school. Their mission alligns with the

EcoDevelopment Agency. While the EcoDevelopment Agency emphasizes maintaining waste

management and awareness nationwide, Green Youths highlights the role of students in

practicing discipline and responsibility when it comes to the school.

This project will also collaborate with the Green Growth Foundation and the School Council,

both of which have successfully organized and supported similar environmental programs for the

past five years. Their expertise and proven efforts in promoting sustainability make them

valuable partners in ensuring the success of this initiative.

The EcoDevelopment Agency should support this proposal because by funding this project, the

EcoDevelopment Agency will not only strengthen its mission of promoting student awareness

but also gain greater visibility and impact within schools and communities. Supporting this

initiative will showcase the agency's commitment to building long-term solutions for waste

management and help develop responsible habits among the youth. Ultimately, this project will

promote discipline, cooperation, and environmental care, creating a cleaner and safer atmosphere

for school activities.

RATIONALE OR BACKGROUND

During the recent event at school which is the intramurals, it was observed that while the event

was properly organized and well participated in, there was a noticeable issue with the waste

management. Some of the students left their trash around the campus, particularly plastics

scattering around. Despite students being constantly reminded about the importance of

maintaining cleanliness and being disciplined, some students still neglected proper waste

disposal showing a lack of discipline and awareness about its impact. Despite knowing it is

wrong, some students still disregard proper waste disposal and segregation, thinking that leaving

trash behind has no significant impact on the environment. This lack of discipline and awareness

results in the accumulation of garbage in the school and highlights the need for a project that

reinforces responsibility and active participation in maintaining a clean surrounding especially

during school events such as intramurals.

This project aims to address the following issues observed during the intramurals.

• Students lack of discipline and responsibility in maintaining cleanliness during events.

• Insufficient number of trash bins inside the classrooms and around the school campus.

• Improper waste disposal and management.

The project matters because it will promote a cleaner, healthier, and more organized environment

during school events. By addressing waste problems during intramurals, the project also

encourages students to develop discipline, awareness and a strong sense of accountability for

their surroundings. The project will not only reduce the litter and health risks, but will also teach

students important values such as environmental care, cooperation, responsibility and discipline.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Base on the observation, the most engaging game for the audience during the intramurals is the

volleyball.

A safety concern noticed was the scattered trash around the volleyball court, which could cause

players to slip or trip leading to potential injuries.

To increase inclusivity and enjoyment for all students, ensuring a clean and safe environment

that's free from trash can help everyone focus on the game and cheer without distraction,

promoting a more inclusive and enjoyable atmosphere.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:

To help students develop responsibility in keeping the school clean, we will encourage teamwork

through group cleaning initiatives, implement a “Clean School” campaign to raise awareness,

organize workshops on waste disposal and recycling, create a reward system for clean

classrooms, foster pride with student-led projects, involve teachers in clean-up days, and assess

cleanliness improvements.

To provide enough trash bins inside the classrooms and around the school campus so waste can

be thrown and be segregate properly. It is important because it promotes cleanliness, prevent

littering, encourages environmental awareness, and helps the students develop a habit of being

responsible in maintaining a clean school environment.

To encourage students to practice proper waste segregation. It is important since it not only

teaches them discipline and responsibility but also teaches values of environmental

responsibility, reduces the amount of unmanaged waste in the community, and contributes to a

more sustainable and eco-friendly school surroundings.

To allow more students to join through simple activities. It is necessary because it creates

opportunities for wider participation for the students, teamwork among learners, encourage them

to be more active in environmental activities, and ensures that everyone feels involved in

building a community of cleanliness and cooperation in the school.

METHOD/ ACTION PLAN:

Provide trash bins inside the campus, for games areas and food stalls. In Negros

Oriental schools, they use color-coded, labeled bins placed in classrooms, canteens,

hallways, and common areas, which helps students separate biodegradable, non-

biodegradable, and recyclable waste more easily. (1)

Require each sports team/food stalls to clean their designated area before leaving. The schools

that perform better often have built-in policies/practices for accountability that is ensuring people

(students, food stall operators, teams) follow through with cleaning, not just placing bins. (2)

Conduct an information using posters, announcements and reminders about proper waste

disposal. Students reported that visible signage and posters with clear waste segregation

instructions were present in classrooms. Also, regular reminders, announcements, and short

programs reinforced proper waste segregation. (3)

BENEFITS AND ANTICIPATED OUTCOMES

This project will help students make the intramurals cleaner and more enjoyable by

adding more trash bins and improving waste management, it will lessen the litter

scattered inside the campus and make the school environment organized. Here’s the

other benefits that will improve in our school. first, it will make the events cleaner

and more organized for both players and spectators because a clean environment can

help athletes stay focused during their games. Aside from keeping the venue clean

we will encourage students to be more responsible especially many students tend to

forget the importance of cleanliness even if they are constantly reminded.

Through initiatives like team clean-up and the “Clean and green program awards”

students will become more aware of their role in maintaining order that that their

small actions have a big impact on the school community.

SUCCESS

If this plan is successfully implemented, the school will be more cleaner and

healthier environment where littering is minimized and waste is properly managed.

Students will develop responsibility, discipline, and teamwork through active

participation in clean-up initiatives and environmental campaigns. With accessible

trash bins, awareness workshops, and clear accountability measures, proper waste

segregation will become a habit that promotes sustainability and environmental

responsibility. This initiative will not only improve the school’s cleanliness but also

build cooperation, pride, and environmental awareness that students can carry

beyond the campus.

The budget for this project will be used wisely to achieve the goals of our proposed project, and

to ensure that the problems will be properly addressed particularly the issue of improper waste

disposal.

Trash bins will be purchased and placed in areas near the field, bleachers, and food concession

areas. A sufficient supply of large garbage bags will ensure that all bins can be emptied regularly

during and after games. Separate bags will also be designated for biodegradable and non

biodegradable waste. Cleaning kit will contain gloves, disinfectant, broom, and dustpan. These

will be used by student volunteers and support staff during the event to maintain cleanliness. The

availability of these kits will allow quick responses to trash overflow, ensuring that the

intramural venues remain clean and safe throughout the games. Educational posters or signage

will be printed and displayed around the campus and event venues. These visuals will remind

students to use the trash bins properly and reinforce the importance of waste segregation. Clear
signages will also make it easier for spectators to quickly identify where to dispose their trash.

Volunteers will be given small incentives such as snacks, drinks, and recognition certificate. This

will motivate them to actively participate and sustain their efforts throughout the event.
