Topic: Social Media’s impact on teenagers
Argument: Social media is widely used by teenagers nowadays. It is used to stay informed, updated, and
establish connections with others online. From morning to the moment before sleeping, social media is
always one click away. It is considered to be useful, however, it can also have negative impacts on users
like teenagers.
According to [Link], researchers believe social media has both positive and negative impacts. Here
are some of its positive impacts: Social media increases diversity and inclusion. A study found that 58
percent of teens feel more accepted in social media, while 67 percent say they have a community to help
them in difficult times. It also enhances digital literacy. Research shows that younger adults are more
aware of digital topics such us online privacy and AI. These are helpful because it can help teenagers to
be more cautious with the media they engage with.
On the other hand, Social media undeniably has negative impacts. First, it is reported that teenagers
aged 12-15 who spend more time on social media might face worst risks of experiencing mental health
struggles. Second, spending too much time on social media can be a distraction to important activities,
such as academics and quality time with family. Lastly, Cyberbullying is a very common issue in
teenagers. It can occur in any platforms and apps and can result to mental health distress and even
bigger problems
