Daily Routine for Managing Nighttime Dry Cough
Morning
Drink a glass of warm water with a teaspoon of honey and a few drops of lemon.
Steam inhalation for 5-10 minutes to open up airways.
Light breathing exercises or yoga (like pranayama) to strengthen your lungs.
Afternoon
Stay hydrated by drinking warm herbal tea (ginger or peppermint) to keep your throat
moist.
Avoid cold drinks, oily, and spicy foods that may irritate your throat.
Evening (Around Dinner Time)
Eat light, warm, non-spicy food. Avoid eating close to bedtime.
Drink a glass of warm milk with 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric.
Before Bed
Take 1-2 teaspoons of honey directly or mixed with warm water.
Steam inhalation for 5-10 minutes to moisten your airways.
Use an extra pillow to reduce throat irritation.
If needed:
- Take Dextromethorphan-based syrup if the cough is disturbing your sleep.
- If post-nasal drip or allergy is suspected, take Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) 30 minutes
before bedtime.
