SCERT Mathematics X : Model 2025 : FSA: Answers 1

Section A

(1) 81
This is the only one option which dosen’t leave the remainder 1 on dividing by
the common difference.
(2) Both are true. B is the reason of A
(3) To move from 4 th term to 7 th term we have subtract 20.
So, to get 10 th term we have subtract 20 from 7 th term.
10 th term is 40
(ii) To get 1st term we have to add 20 to 4 th term. It is 80 + 20 = 100

OR
(i) Common difference is 7.
Since 56 is a multiple of 7 , it can be the difference of two terms
(ii) 302 − 8 = 294. It is divisible by 7, the common difference.
42 common difference should be added to first term to get 302. So we can say
302 is the 43 term
40
(4) (i) Third term = 5 =8
260
(ii) 7 th term = 13 = 20
(iii) 4 Common difference = 20 − 8 = 12, Common difference is 3
Terms are 2, 5, 8
(5) (i) On pairing terms equidistant from both ends , we get 4 pairs
240
Sum of first and eighth is 4 = 60
Sum of 4 th and 5 th is 60
(ii) 6 th term = 60 − 15 = 45
240
(iii) Sum of terms equidistant from both ends is 4 = 60
Sum of 4 th and 5 th terms is 60.
30, 30, 30, 30, 30, 30, 30, 30
23, 25, 27, 29, 31, 33, 35, 37
37, 35, 33, 31, 29, 27, 25, 23
2 Section B

(6) Subtract 5
Since common difference is negative we can say , it is a decreasing sequence
(7) 3
(8) All terms are odd numbers . So square of terms is also an odd number.
Algebraically, the sequence is 6n − 3
(6n − 3)2 = 36n2 − 36n + 9 = 9(4n2 − 4n + 1) = 9× an odd number
4n2 − 4n + 1, for all natural number n
(9) If both numbers are 3, product will be 9. So we can say both are not 3
If both are less than 3, sum will not be 6
So one should be more than 3 and other less than 3
√ 2 √ √
Another way : 7 = 9 − 2 = 32 − 2 = (3 − 2)(3 + 2)
√ √
3 − 2 is less than 3 and 3 + 2 is more than 3, sum is 6.
(10) Both have same common difference
(a) 3. This is the difference of terms in the same position
(b) 25 × 3 = 75
(11) (i) First term x1 = 5, x1 + x2 = 16 =⇒ x2 = 11
(ii) d = 11 − 5 = 6. xn = 6n − 1
(12A) (a) Smaller side is x. Other side x + 14
x2 + (x + 14)2 = 262
b) Solving x = [Link] are 10cm, 24cm

OR
(12B) Sides are x and x + 7.
1
2 × x(x + 7) = 60, x2 + 7x = 120
(x + 72 )2 = 529
4
7 23
x+ 2 = 2 , x = 8cm. Sides 8cm, 15cm, 17cm
(13) (i) This is the sequence of odd numbers 1, 3, 5 · · ·
This is a squence starting from 1 and adding 2 again and again. Also this3
is the sequence of numbers 1 less than the multiples of 2. So this is an
arithmetic sequence xn = 2n − 1
(ii) xn = 2n − 1
yn = 2(1 + 2 + 3 + · · · + n) − n = 2 n(n+1)
2 − n = n(n + 1) − n = n2

(14) It is not given that 6, 10, 14 · · · is arithmetic sequence.

We assume that it is an arithmetic sequence

xn = 4n + 2. Sum of first n terms yn = 4(1 + 2 + 3 · · · + n) + 2n =

4 × n(n+1)
2 + 2n = 2n(n + 1) + 2n = 2n2 + 4n

2n2 + 4n = 880 =⇒ n2 + 2n = 440, n2 + 2n + 1 = 441

(n + 1)2 = 212 , n + 1 = 21, n = 20

Section C

1
(15) 3

(16) p = q

(17) Inside the right triangle .

(i) Probability is ( 12 × 2 × 2) ÷ π22 = 1

(ii) ( 14 × π × 22 − 2) ÷ π × 22 = π−2

(18) Number of three digit numbers is 900.

Numbers leave the remainder 3 on dividing by 4 are :103, 107, 111 · · · 999

4n + 99 = 999 → n = 900
4 = 225
225
Probability is 900
9
(19A) (a) 36
18
(b) 36
9
(c) 36 . To get the product odd, both should be odd
15×20 12
(19B) (a) 35×35 = 49
20×20+15×15
(b) 35×35
(c) 1 − 12
49 . To get the product odd, both should be odd
4 Section D

(20) ∠S = 80◦ . Outside the circle

(21) Both are true, B is the correct reason for A.

Reference : Illustations in page 37, 38, 39, 40 text book

(22) Central angle of the arc is 2 × 18 = 36◦

1
It is 10 of angle around the centre

Arc length is 1
10 of circumfrence . It is 1
10 × 2π × 10 = 2πcm
(23A) Diagram

∠B = 108◦ ∠ACB = 36◦

AP BC is cyclic. Marked angle is 180 − 36 = 144◦

(23B) Diagram

Take ∠ABC = x, ∠DCB = y

So we can write central angle of arc BQD = 2y, central angle of arc AP C = 2x

Triangle M BC is a right triangle. x + y = 90

So , 2x + 2y = 180◦ . That is on joining the arcs AP C and BQD we get a semicircle.

(24A) See diagram

5

∠ACB = 90◦ , ∠ABC = 90 − 55 = 125◦

∠ADC = 180 − 55 = 125◦

Let x be the measure of angle DAC . So , x + 35 + 125 = 180, x = 20◦

Write the angles

(24B)

Fig

Join OC, ∠AOC = 180 − 2x. This is equal to 2y

2x + 2y = 180, x + y = 90◦

(25) Diagram

95 + 20 + x = 180, x = 55◦

Write the angles
