General Instructions:
• All questions are compulsory.
• The paper is divided into four sections: A, B, C, and D.

Section A: Very Short Answer Questions (1 mark each)

Total Marks: 10
1. Is the product of two irrational numbers always irrational? Give an example.
2. Find the zeroes of the polynomial p(x)=x2−4.
3. For what value of k does the pair of linear equations x−2y=3 and 3x+ky=1 have a unique
solution?
4. If the nth term of an AP is an=3n+5, find its common difference.
5. In △ABC, if DE∥BC, find the value of x given that AD=x, DB=2x, AE=3, and EC=6.
6. Find the distance between the points (2,3) and (4,1).
7. If sinA=3/5, find the value of cosA.
8. If a ladder of length 10 m leans against a wall and makes an angle of 60∘ with the ground,
what is the height of the wall?
9. Find the HCF of 15 and 20.
[Link] the sum of the zeroes of a quadratic polynomial is 5 and the product is 6, write the
polynomial.

Section B: Short Answer Questions (2 marks each)

Total Marks: 20
[Link] the LCM and HCF of 92 and 510 and verify that LCM×HCF=product of the two
numbers.
[Link] a quadratic polynomial whose zeroes are 2 and −3.
[Link] the pair of linear equations by the substitution method: x+y=14 and x−y=4.
[Link] many two-digit numbers are divisible by 3?
[Link] △ABC, DE∥BC. If AD=3 cm, DB=5 cm, and AC=12 cm, find the length of AE.
[Link] the coordinates of the midpoint of the line segment joining the points (−5,4) and (3,−2).
[Link]: sin60∘cos30∘+cos60∘sin30∘.
18.A kite is flying at a height of 60 m from the ground. The string attached to the kite is
temporarily tied to a point on the ground. The inclination of the string with the ground is
30∘. Find the length of the string.
[Link] that √5 is an irrational number.
[Link] the sum of the first 20 terms of the arithmetic progression 5, 8, 11, 14, ...

Section C: Short Answer Questions (3 marks each)

Total Marks: 15
[Link] comparing the ratios a1/a2, b1/b2 and c1/c2, find out whether the lines representing the
following pair of linear equations are consistent or inconsistent: 2x−3y=8 and 4x−6y=9.
[Link] the polynomial p(x)=2x2+3x+1 by the polynomial g(x)=x+2.
[Link] the sum of all odd numbers between 1 and 100.
[Link] that if a line is drawn parallel to one side of a triangle to intersect the other two sides
in distinct points, the other two sides are divided in the same ratio.
[Link] the coordinates of the points which divide the line segment joining A(−2,2) and B(2,8)
into four equal parts.

Section D: Long Answer Questions (5 marks each)

Total Marks: 35
[Link] a point on the ground, the angles of elevation of the bottom and the top of a
transmission tower fixed at the top of a 20 m high building are 45∘ and 60∘ respectively.
Find the height of the tower.
[Link] sum of the digits of a two-digit number is 9. Also, nine times this number is twice the
number obtained by reversing the order of the digits. Find the number.

29th term.
29.A person standing on the bank of a river observes that the angle of elevation of the top of a
tree on the opposite bank is 60∘. When he moves 40 m away from the bank, he finds the
angle of elevation to be 30∘. Find the height of the tree and the width of the river.
[Link] the polynomial x4−6x3+16x2−25x+10 is divided by another polynomial x2−2x+k, the
