Equipment Control Gauges and Instruments

ISSF Rule 6.5 requires for Organizing Committees:
Each Organizing Committee must provide a complete set of gauges and instruments for Equipment
Control before and during ISSF Championships. This rule also requires that Calibration Certification
or Calibration Test Equipment must be provided. The ISSF Technical Delegate or the Chairman of
the Equipment Control Jury must examine and approve all gauges and instruments prior to the
competition. Calibration test equipment for use in examining Equipment Control instruments is
available from ISSF Headquarters. ISSF Rule 6.5 requires that certain clothing measurements may
only be checked with devices approved by the ISSF Technical Committee or the Chairman of the
Equipment Control Jury.
This document provides a list of the Equipment Control gauges and instruments that Organizing
Committees must have in order to conduct an ISSF Championship. The list identifies the
instruments that must be ISSF approved. The ISSF can provide a whole set for you, depending on
the level of ISSF Championship, also the ISSF can advise you about the quantity what you need to
run an official ISSF event. For any questions, please contact the ISSF Headquarters and the ISSF

Stiffness Measurement Device


 To measure rifle clothing stiffness in
accordance with ISSF Rule 6.5.2.
 Must be ISSF approved.
 Must be checked by the Equipment Control
Jury Chairman or Technical Delegate.

Shoe Sole Flexibility Testing Device
 To measure rifle and pistol athletes’ shoe
sole flexibility in accordance with ISSF Rule
6.5.3 / [Link].
 Must be ISSF approved.
 Must be checked and calibrated by the
Equipment Control Jury Chairman or
Technical Delegate.

Shoe Dimension Measurement Device


 To measure the external dimensions of rifle
athletes’ shoes in accordance with ISSF
Rule [Link].
 Must be ISSF approved.
 Must be checked and calibrated by the
Equipment Control Jury Chairman or
Technical Delegate.

Rifle Dimension Template


 To check rifle external dimensions in
accordance with ISSF Rule [Link] /
[Link].
 ISSF approved template not required.
 Must be dimensionally accurate.

Knelling Roll Measuring 250 x 118 mm


 To check kneeling roll external dimensions
in accordance with ISSF Rule [Link].
 ISSF approved device not required.
 Must be dimensionally accurate.
 Construct an open cylinder with an internal
diameter of 180 mm and a length of 250
mm.

25m Pistol Measuring Box
 To check 25m Pistol external dimensions in
accordance with ISSF Rule 8.12.
 ISSF approved device not required.
 Must be dimensionally accurate.
 Measuring box must have internal dimensions
of 300 mm x 150 mm x 50 mm, with 0.0 mm to
+ 1.0 mm tolerance.

10m Air Pistol Measuring Box


 To check 10m Air Pistol external
dimensions in accordance with ISSF Rule
8.12.
 ISSF approved device not required.
 Must be dimensionally accurate.
 Measuring box must have internal
dimensions of 420 mm x 200 mm x 50 mm,
with 0.0 mm to + 1.0 mm tolerance.

1000 g 25m Pistol Trigger Weight


 To check 25m Pistol trigger pull weight.
 1000 g weight required.
 Must be configured to weigh pistol triggers
according with ISSF Rule [Link].
 ISSF approved device not required.

500 g 10m Air Pistol Trigger Weight


 To check 10m Air Pistol trigger pull weight.
 500 g weight required.
 Must be configured to weigh pistol triggers
according with ISSF Rule [Link].
 ISSF approved device not required.

120 - 200 g Scale
 To check 25m Rapid Fire Pistol bullet
weight.
 To check shotgun shot charges.
 Must measure weight in 0.0.1 g increments
from 0.00 g to 120.00 - 200.00 g.
 The scale must have a state certificate.

10 kg Scale
 To check rifle weights.
 To check pistol weights.
 Must measure weight in 1.0 g increments
from 0.0 g to 10,000.0 g.
 The scale must have a state certificate.

Chronograph
 To measure the velocity of 25m Rapid Fire
Pistol ammunition in accordance with ISSF
Rule 8.4.4 / [Link].
 ISSF approved chronograph not required,
but must be in accordance with ISSF
velocity measurement procedure.

Clay Target Dimension Control Device


 To check the external dimensions of
shotgun clay targets in accordance with
ISSF Rule [Link].
 Must be ISSF approved.
 Must be checked by the Equipment Control
Jury Chairman or Technical Delegate.

Clay Target Breakability Device


 To check the breakability of shotgun clay
targets in accordance with ISSF Rule
[Link].
 Must be ISSF approved.
 Must be checked by the Equipment Control
Jury Chairman or Technical Delegate.

Shotgun Ammunition Cutter
To open the shotgun cartridges.

Bore pellet Filter


 To check the dimensions of shotgun pellets
in accordance with ISSF Rule [Link] d).
 Must be ISSF approved.
 Must be checked by the Equipment Control
Jury Chairman or Technical Delegate.

Testing Device Calibration Kit


 To calibrate Equipment Control Testing
Devices.
 ISSF calibration test equipment must be
used to check testing instruments
before each day of testing and when a
disqualification is considered during
post-competition testing, ISSF Rule
[Link] c).
 The Calibration Kit is available from ISSF
Headquarters.

Cartridge Cutter
 To open Shotgun Cartridges.
 ISSF approved device not required.

Shot Shell Diameter Tester


 To check the Diameter of the Shotgun
Pellets.
 Must be ISSF approved.
 Must be checked by the Equipment Control
Jury Chairman or Technical Delegate.

Comments
All gauges and instruments must be checked by the Chairman of the Equipment Control Jury
Chairman or Technical Delegate.
When ISSF-approved testing devices are required for a specific testing function,
manufacturers that wish to obtain ISSF approval must submit a prototype or production version
of the device so that it may be examined for possible approval by the ISSF Technical
Committee.
The list of suppliers can be obtained from ISSF Headquarters on request, or the ISSF
can provide you a whole set.
