36. On his Birthday, Manoj planned that this time he celebrates his Birthday in a small Orphanage
centre. He bought apples to give to children and adults working there. Manoj donated 2 apples to
each children and 3 apples to each adult working there along with Birthday cake. He distributed 100
total apples.

On the basis of above information, answer the following questions.


i) How to represent the above situation in linear equations in two variables by taking the
number of children as ‘x’ and the number of adults as ‘y’? (1m)
ii) If the number of children is 17, then find the number of adults? (1m)
iii) If the number of adults is 14, then find the number of children? (1m)
iv) If x = y, then find the number of children and number of adults in the Orphanage centre. (1m)
37. Aditya is a Class IX student residing in a village. One day, he went to a city Hospital along with his
grandfather for general checkup. From there he visited three places – School, Library and Police
station. Affter returning to his village, he plotted a graph by taking Hospital as origin and marked
three places on the graph as per his direction of movement and distance. The graph is shown below.

38. Once four students from Class IX were selected for planting flower plants in the School garden. The
selected students were Pradeep, Raju, Deepak, and Rene. As shown, PQ and MN are parallel lines of
the plants. Pradeep planted a sunflower plants at point P, then Raju planted another sunflower at
point Q. Further, Deepak was called to plant any flowering plant at point M and he planted a
marigold there. Now it was Renu’s turn and she was told to plant a different flowering plant from the
three already planted. So she planted a rose plant at point N. There was a water pipeline XY which
intersects PQ and MN at points A and B, XBN = 60

On the basis of above information, answer the following questions.


i) Find the angle measure of x and its complementary angle. (1m)
ii) What is the value of angle y and find its supplementary angle? (1m)
iii) Find the sum of angels a and b. (1m)
iv) Find the reflex angle of p. (1m)
