I partly agree with the idea that teenagers should be encouraged to participate in unpaid

community service, as it offers many benefits to both the individual and society. However, I do
not believe it should be a strict requirement for all teenagers.

On one hand, doing voluntary work can help teenagers develop important life skills such as
teamwork, communication, and a sense of responsibility. For example, helping in a local library
or organizing charity events can teach them time management and empathy. These experiences
not only make them more mature but also improve their chances of finding a job or getting into
university later. Moreover, community service fosters a sense of social responsibility,
encouraging young people to contribute to the improvement of their neighborhoods and care
about the people around them.

On the other hand, making community service compulsory might create resistance or stress
among teenagers. Many of them already face heavy academic pressure and have little free time
to relax or pursue personal interests such as sports or the arts. Forcing them to engage in
unpaid work might lead to burnout or cause them to see volunteering as a burden rather than a
meaningful activity. In some cases, teenagers may also come from families with financial
difficulties and need to spend their free time earning money rather than working without pay.

In conclusion, while unpaid work can bring valuable benefits to teenagers and society, it should
be encouraged rather than required. Teenagers should have the freedom to choose how to
spend their free time in a way that best suits their personal situation and interests.
