Introduction (2 mins)
Ask: “Who has shared bread or cake with a friend before?” Lead them to the idea of dividing into
equal parts.

Presentation (5 mins)
Draw a circle and divide into 2 parts → shade 1 part → write ½. Repeat with 3 and 4 parts → ■, ¼.
Emphasize: Fractions = equal parts of a whole.

Class Activities (7 mins)


Share examples: 10 sweets shared among 5 friends → each gets 1/5. Shade 2 parts out of 4 → 2/4
= ½. Invite pupils to the board to shade and write fractions.

Evaluation (3 mins)
Ask pupils: 1. What fraction is 1 out of 8 slices? (1/8). 2. If a bar is cut into 4 equal parts and you
take 3, what fraction is that? (3/4).

Conclusion (3 mins)
Reinforce: “Fractions show how we share equally. The top number (numerator) shows the part you
have, the bottom number (denominator) shows the total equal parts.”

Assignment
Draw a rectangle, divide it into 6 equal parts, and shade 2. Write the fraction shaded.
