General Instructions:
Assignment is due by Monday, March 17th @ 11:59 p.m. EST;
Late extra credit papers will not be accepted – no matter the reason;
It is to be submitted to your instructor as an email attachment (jmaughenbaug@[Link] ) as a MS
Word document. If it is submitted in the body of an email or in a format other than MS Word, I
will not read it and you will not get credit for doing it;
It should be no more than two pages, double-spaced, 11-point font, and one-inch margins;
Your name and V# should be at the top left of the page;
If you don’t follow either these general or specific instructions (below), you will not earn credit
for doing the assignment;
Successful completion of the paper may lead to 5 extra credit points added to your final point
(not percentage, but point) total in the course.
Specific instructions:
Attend the POLI panel entitled “Trump 2.0: Reflections on the State of U.S. Democracy” on
Wednesday, March 5th in room 1201, MCALC @ 6:30 p.m.

Then, summarize the lectures in two paragraphs (page one);
Then, in two paragraphs (page two), discuss/connect how the lecture demonstrates/illustrates
concepts/ideas in a specific reading from the course, or something we discussed in class. You
must cite the page or pages in the reading or identify which days in my lecture notes (cite as:
Aughenbaugh, unpublished lecture; days XX).
You must use complete sentences and paragraphs – be clear!;
If you don’t cite the readings or my lectures properly, you will not receive credit for doing the
assignment;
If I see evidence of any outside research, you will not receive credit for doing the assignment.
In short, this is a simple exercise for you to take class material and apply it to a different context.
Don’t overthink the assignment; just follow the instructions. If you do as instructed, you get
credit. If you don’t follow the instruction, you won’t get credit.
