Topper-Style Study Methods

1. Stop Long Passive Study

• Avoid 3-hour straight reading sessions—they feel productive but don’t stick.
• Instead, use 45–60 min focused sessions with active recall.
• Active Recall: After reading, close the book and write/say what you remember.

2. Use Spaced Repetition

• Forgetting is normal. Review topics at intervals: same day, 2 days later, 1 week later.
• Even short 10-minute reviews strengthen memory.

3. Study Like a Teacher

• Pretend to teach the concept to someone else.
• Explaining forces you to organize knowledge and spot gaps.

4. Switch Between Input & Output

• Input = reading, watching, listening.
• Output = solving MCQs, writing notes, drawing diagrams.
• For every 1 hour of input, do at least 30 minutes of output.

5. Small Breaks, Not Endless Breaks

• Use 50 min study → 10 min break.
• Breaks should be active (stretch, drink water, short walk). Avoid scrolling phone.

Coach’s Advice
• Stop chasing hours. Chase results (e.g., 'Can I solve 10 MCQs?' not 'Did I study 3 hrs?').
• Study smart, not long—2 hrs of active recall > 5 hrs passive reading.
• Track progress with a checklist of revised topics.
• Don’t fear forgetting—each revision makes memory stronger.
