their appearance. Why do people have operations to change the way they look? Do you
think this is positive or negative development?

Overall, the upward trend was roughly the norm while bicycle and motorbike are
noticeable exceptions. Bus and retail(trail) were be more popular than bicycle, motorbike

As can be seen from the chart, the amount(number) of kilometres travelled by bus began at
around 40 billion kilometres and finished at 45,000 billion kilometres, followed by the rail
with the slightly increase in 1990 to 2000( không rõ ràng giống ở trên, bắt đầu và kết thúc
không nối bằng followed (dùng để so sánh thứ tự cái nào lớn hơn)). The total rose from 100
billion kilometres to 110 billion kilometres after 10 years. In 2000, the total reached its

The reverse pattern was evident in bicycle, motorbike and air (travel). Bicycle and
motorbike went down marginally by 2 billion kilometres over the 10-year period. Notably,

Overall, the total volume of travel increased slightly over the decade. Distances covered by
air, bus, and rail rose, while bicycle and motorbike usage showed a gradual decline.

In 1990, the total distance travelled stood at around 100 billion kilometres, rising modestly
to about 110 billion by 2000. Among the five modes, bus travel was the most common,
accounting for approximately 40 billion kilometres, followed closely by rail at 35 billion. By
2000, both had grown slightly, to about 42 and 38 billion kilometres, respectively.
Meanwhile, air travel, though the smallest contributor overall, recorded the sharpest
growth, climbing from roughly 5 billion kilometres to 8 billion during the period.

By contrast, the distances travelled by bicycles and motorbikes declined noticeably. Bicycle
travel fell from about 8 billion kilometres in 1990 to just 3 billion in 2000, while motorbike
usage halved, dropping from nearly 9 billion to under 5 billion kilometres over the same
span.

It is indisputable that cosmetic surgery plays a vital role in changing their appearance.
Some people hold the perception that in the recent years cosmetic surgery has become
increasingly popular with the number of people to develop their apperance. In this essay, I
intend to investigate both positive and negative devlopment as well as provide my own
viewpoint.
There are some reasons why people believe that cosmetic surgery brings many benefits.
First of all, nothing can alter the fact that this trend can enhance quality of life for many
individuals especially the women. In other words, for some industries, apperance
requirements are quite high and have its own standards for appearance(không rõ là đang
nói tới cái gì). Thus, it leads to the circumstance that people have more opportunities for
promotion in career. Futhermore, another point worth considering is that cosmetic surgery
can help people to be more improved self-confidence. That is to say, they believe that
cosmetic changes can help them to attract attention from somebody.
On the other hand, the drawabacks of this development should not be neglected. One of the
primary negative aspects is the burden of high cost. This means that after the first cosmetic
change, a myraid of individuals are dissatisfied with themselves so they addicted to surgery.
For instance, one recent study conducted by a university in vietnam shows that the rate of
people who come back after the first aesthetics is almost absolute. Another adverse impact
is that health is seriously affected by surgical complications. Finally, many people spread
the ideas of surgery to others and it can affect to the society.
By way of conclusion, every coin has two side, and cosmetic surgery is not an exception.
However, I am convinced that people need to consider carefully before making a decision
on this trend.

There is an increasing trend of people undergoing cosmetic surgery to improve their

appearance. From my perspective, there are numerous causes leading to this tendency, and
I believe that such procedures can have negative effects on both health and finances.
It stands to reason that the factors contributing to the growing popularity of cosmetic
surgery are varied, especially in a society that places significant emphasis on physical
appearance. To begin with, many people nowadays tend to have obsessive self-
consciousness, which drives them to seek perfection. This paves the way for the rise of
cosmetic procedures. Specifically, these individuals strive for an ideal appearance that is
often difficult to achieve without surgical assistance. Gradually, this pursuit becomes a
trend, especially among those influenced by the widespread promotion of beauty
treatments. Moreover, today’s society tends to favor individuals with good looks, which can
increase their chances of success in life. For example, certain professions, such as flight
attendants or models, require a particular level of physical attractiveness to pursue and
thrive in the field.
However, this tendency certainly brings about several adverse impacts, particularly in
terms of health and finances. Firstly, people who undergo beauty surgery potentially face
life-threatening risks, as well as long-term complications. These risks may not only deform
their appearance but also cause serious health problems. In addition, the time and money
required for cosmetic procedures are considerable. For instance, due to the high cost of
each surgery and the extended recovery period, individuals may experience a financial
burden and even disruption in their career or daily life.
In conclusion, due to the aforementioned reasons, such as low self-esteem and the pursuit of
societal beauty standards, the demand for cosmetic surgery is on the rise. My firm
conviction is that participating in such surgeries is a negative trend because of their
harmful impacts, including the deterioration of financial stability and health.
