a. The drying agent used to dry HCl gas is?
b. Ammonia reacts with excess chlorine to form.....................(nitrogen /
nitrogen trichloride / ammonium chloride).
c. Certain blank spaces are left in the following table, and these are labelled
as A, B. Identify each of them.

d. State one relevant observation for each of the following reactions:

Addition of excess ammonium hydroxide into copper sulphate solution.
e. Copy and complete the following table which refers to the industrial
method for the preparation of ammonia and sulphuric acid:

f. Write a balanced chemical equation for each of the following:

(i) Reaction of excess ammonia with chlorine.
(ii) Reaction of lead nitrate solution with ammonium hydroxide.
g. Name the gas evolved in the following cases: Ammonia reacts with heated
copper oxide
h. Study the flow chart given and give balanced equation to represent the
reaction A, B and C:

laboratory. Why is this acid preferred to other acids?
(ii) Write the balanced chemical equation for the laboratory preparation of
hydrogen chloride gas.
(iii) For the preparation of hydrochloric acid in the laboratory: Why is direct
absorption of hydrogen chloride gas in water not feasible?
IV. (a) Write the balanced chemical equation to prepare ammonia gas in the
laboratory by using an alkali.
(i) State why concentrated sulphuric acid is not used for drying ammonia gas.
