4. Answer the Following Questions.
a. List the six domains of Artificial Intelligence.
Ans: The six main domains of Artificial Intelligence are Machine Learning, Deep
Learning, Fuzzy Logic, Natural Language Processing, Expert Systems and Robotics.
b. What is a robot?
Ans: A robot is a programmable machine that behaves like human beings and is
capable of performing tasks by itself, with the help of sensors.
c. Differentiate between conventional computer logic and Fuzzy Logic with the help
of an example.
Ans: Conventional computer logic have a reasoning system that is fixed and exact.
They are based on binary system that declares a condition as either true or false,
nothing in between whereas Fuzzy Logic enables computers to consider all
intermediate possibilities between ‘completely true’ and ‘completely false’. For
example, according to binary logic, there can be only two types of animals: slow or
fast. However, Fuzzy Logic entertains the possibility of a range of speeds between slow
and fast.
d. What are the advantages of using robots in the workplace?
Ans: The advantages of using robots in the workplace are as follows:
• Improve Accuracy: Robots are very precise and can do things exactly the same
way every time, making fewer mistakes than humans sometimes do.
• Do Repetitive Tasks: Robots are great at doing the same task again and again
without getting tired. This helps workers focus on more interesting and
important things.
• Make Work Faster: Robots can do things really quickly, which can help finish
tasks faster and get products ready sooner.
e. Mention two applications of Deep Learning.
Ans: Deep Learning is used in a variety of fields today.
• Video streaming services: Modern streaming platforms such as Netflix
recommend new content to their users by learning their likes and dislikes from
their watch history.
• Virtual assistants: Many technology companies today offer the facility of
virtual personal assistance such as Siri (by Apple), Bixby (by Samsung) and
Alexa (by Amazon). They perform a variety of tasks asked by their users without
the need for step-by-step instructions. Examples of tasks that such assistants can
perform include setting alarms, rescheduling calendars, playing music, accepting
and rejecting calls, answering queries, etc.
f. List some ways in which Natural Language Processing can be used practically.
Ans: These are some ways in which Natural Language Processing can be used
practically.
• Talking Robots: NLP makes robots talk and chat with us like they're real.
• Language Translators: We use google or other computer software to translate
text. NLP helps computers to understand the meaning of the information that
they are supplied with. This text is then converted into another language while
keeping this meaning intact.
• Search with Autocorrect and Autocomplete: We use google to search
information online. Usually, we are shown a list of possible search terms after
typing only few letters or words. Even the computer can generate the most
accurate and relevant results. This is made possible with the use of NLP.
g. What is meant by Machine Learning? How is it different from Deep Learning.
Ans: Machine Learning provides computers with the ability to analyse information (or
data) and learn from it independently. Once the data has been analysed, computers can
apply what they have learnt to make better decisions.
The basic difference between Machine Learning and Deep Learning lies in the extent
of their capabilities. Deep Learning systems can analyse and solve much more complex
information than conventional Machine Learning systems. This is facilitated with the
help of Artificial Neural Networks.
h. Define Expert Systems. Mention two practical applications of Expert Systems.
Ans: Expert Systems enable computers to think and solve problems like human
experts. It can solve complex problems of a specific area just like the qualified
professionals of that field would.
By behaving like highly qualified experts, Expert Systems can be used for the
following purpose.
• Diagnoses: They can analyse patient data and make a diagnosis about various
diseases.
• Design: They can help to design various types of equipment and machines
according to specifications. This includes devices such as camera lenses as well
as automobiles.
i. Robots can bring about revolutionary improvements in the fields of healthcare
and defence. Comment.
Ans: Robots are being used in almost all industries today. It can bring a great
revolutionary improvement in the fields of healthcare and defence.
• Defence: Robots play a big role in keeping our country safe. They can gather
information from risky places, find and remove dangerous things like mines,
help in rescue missions, and even deliver supplies. But we must make sure we
use them wisely and think about the rules.
• Healthcare: Imagine robots working alongside doctors! They can make surgeries
super precise, talk to patients through screens, speed up finding new medicines,
and assist older people with daily tasks. Robots make healthcare better for
everyone.
j. List three applications of Fuzzy Logic.
Ans: computer based on Fuzzy Logic can be used in the development of intelligent
systems for many purposes.
• Traffic Lights Timing: Fuzzy Logic helps set the timing for traffic lights. It
considers how many cars are waiting and changes the lights to keep traffic
moving smoothly. So, when there are lots of cars, the lights stay green a bit
longer.
• Automatic Car Gear Shifting: Fuzzy Logic helps cars change gears smoothly.
It looks at things like how fast the car is going, how hard the engine is working,
and how the driver is driving. Then, it decides when to switch gears, making
driving easier and using less gas.
• Smart Washing Machines: Fuzzy Logic helps washing machines be super
smart. It looks at the clothes you put inside, how dirty they are, and how many
there are. Then, it decides how much water and soap to use, and how long to
wash, so your clothes come out really clean and nice.
