Problem statement

Economic incentives, improved infrastructure, and


sustainable rural initiatives play a key role in this revival. By
analyzing villages that have managed to increase their
population, we aim to identify practical solutions that can
bring new life to abandoned rural areas while preserving
cultural heritage and ensuring long-term sustainability.

beauty can be successfully repopulated

based businesses. Implementing strategies

Lesnovo
Lesnovo: Situated in the eastern region of North Macedonia. It is known
for the Lesnovo Monastery, a significant cultural and historical site
dating back to the 14th century. The village has maintained its
traditional position over the centuries and is one of the oldest in North
Macedonia.
Also this village holds volcanic soil and supports sustainable agriculture.
Methodology
Galichnik
Galichnik: Located on the slopes of Bistra Mountain within Mavrovo
National Park. It is renowned for its well-preserved traditional
architecture and cultural heritage, including the annual Galichnik
Wedding Festival.
It also has a unique tradition of cheese making for their special
