Questions to Ask Before Designing
a Network
1. What is the size of your organization?
Answer: We have 50 employees currently, with plans to expand to 80 within
the next two years.
2. What are the main functions or departments in your company?
Answer: Sales, Marketing, HR, IT, Finance, and Operations.
3. What type of applications and services will the network support?
Answer: Email, file sharing, VoIP, cloud services, ERP system, and internet
access.
4. How many devices will connect to the network?
Answer: Around 60 desktop computers, 20 laptops, 15 printers, and other
IoT devices.
5. What are your performance and speed requirements?
Answer: High-speed internet (1 Gbps), low latency for VoIP, and fast
internal data transfers.
6. What level of security is required?
Answer: Firewall, antivirus, intrusion prevention system, and access control
policies.
7. Do you need remote access or VPN support?
Answer: Yes, for remote workers and branch offices.
8. What is your budget for this network setup?
Answer: Our budget is approximately $15,000 to $20,000.
9. Do you have an existing network or is this a new setup?
Answer: We have a small existing setup, but we want a complete redesign.
10. What are your backup and disaster recovery needs?
Answer: We need automated daily backups with offsite storage and quick
recovery options.
11. Are there any future expansion plans?
Answer: Yes, we expect to open two new branches within 3 years.
12. Where will the networking equipment be located?
Answer: We have a dedicated server room with cooling and UPS backup.
