Technical Data
General
• Mounting Position
The actuator can be mounted in any position. To make local operation easier, e.g. reading information on the display, a regular mounting is
recommended, i.e. the mounting flange of the valve should be positioned below the actuator.
The electronics unit of the actuator can be mounted separately (e.g. wall bracket) using our separate mounting kit (Order add-on S41).
• Operating Mode
Standard actuator 2SA50..- Modulating actuator 2SA55..-
Short-time duty S2-15 min acc. DIN EN 60034. Intermittent duty S4/S5 min. 25% ED duty cycle,
Intermittent duty S4/S5 with reduced c/h on request 1200 c/h acc. DIN EN 60034
The short-term duty of S2-15min is ensured at an ambient temperature The actuators can be operated in S4 mode (no elec. braking) and S5
of +20°C and average load (35% Md max). mode (with elec. braking) at min. 25% cyclic duration factor for 1200
With most versions, short-time duty can also be performed at full load operations per hour.
across the entire ambient temperature range from –20°C to +60°C.
• Application
Electrical operation of valves in: • Water resources management – from drinking water processing plants up to
sewage treatment plants
• Chemical – chemical and petrochemical industry, incl. pipelines
• Process plants – from cement plants up to foodstuff industry
• Energy – power plants, district heating
• Noise Level
The noise level caused by the actuator (sound pressure level at 1 m distance) is < 70 dB (A)
• Lubrication
The gears are filled with durable gear oil. They therefore require little maintenance. The maintenance intervals after commissioning must be
observed (refer to recommendations in operating manual). The Form A end shaft version is grease-lubricated.
• Degree of Protection
The actuators meet the requirements of IP67 protection as standard (DIN EN 60529). IP 68 on request!
They are fully screen-protected (electrical voltage and moving parts) and protected against the ingress of foreign bodies (dust), and against
harmful quantities of water on submersion (max. 1 m under water for max. 30 min.).
• Vibration Performance
Electric rotary actuators 2SA5 are certified according to:
Acceleration Frequency range Throughput speed Test duration
KTA 3504, Item 10.3.4 0.75 g 5 ... 200 Hz 1 octave/min 20 sweeps (10 cycles) / in 3 directions
Germanischer Lloyd 0.7 g 5 ... 200 Hz in the resonance frequencies min. 1.5 h / in 3 directions
EN 60068-2-6 2 g 5 ... 500 Hz 1 octave/min 20 sweeps (10 cycles) / in 3 directions
Loads according to EN 60068-2-6 up to 5 g for separate mounting of electronics and gear unit on request.
The actuators can withstand a continuous load caused by plant-generated vibrations within a frequency range of 5 Hz – 200 Hz at up to 0.5 g.
• Ambient Temperature
There are no functional restrictions for the temperature range of -20°C to + 60° C.

The frequency converter generates a frequency/amplitude adjustable 3-phase AC voltage for the motor from the single or 3-phase main voltage
supply. The motor speed and thus the positioning time of the actuator is frequency-adjustable.
The values are set by a microcontroller integrated in the actuator, which also assumes control and monitoring functions. Adjustable data is stored
in a non-volatile memory (EEPROM).

Motor operation

supply. The motor speed and thus the positioning time of the actuator is frequency-adjustable.
The values are set by a microcontroller integrated in the actuator, which also assumes control and monitoring functions. Adjustable data is stored
in a non-volatile memory (EEPROM).
In the case of PROFITRON, an electrical brake is induced by feeding the motor a direct current via the frequency converter, controlled by the
microcontroller. The induced magnetic field acts against the original rotary movement for a precisely defined time. The braking force as well as
the runout are adjustable on the PROFITRON by programming the DC voltage supply.
By programming the runup time for reaching max. speed from 0.1 to 2 s, the required control accuracy can be easily adjusted in conjunction with
the programmed braking force.
Motor protection
The motor has a thermistor-type motor protection against thermal damage. The winding temperature is monitored continuously by the
microcontroller. The response after exceeding the permitted winding temperature is programmable on the PROFITRON. On the ECOTRON the
motor protection can not be inhibited.
Motor space heater (programmable for PROFITRON, for ECOTRON only with option „M18“)
The microcontroller continuously monitors the current winding temperature by means of a temperature sensor integrated in the motor winding.
When the motor space heater is activated by the program, the motor winding is heated by a DC voltage via the frequency converter depending on
the cooling characteristic of the motor winding when the motor is switched off.
