Mini Project
As part of the curriculum, students are required to take up 1 mini-project work for the successful
completion of internal assessment for each subject of the MBA – WILP Program.
Purpose of mini project:
To enable the students to apply the conceptual learning in the work-life context and receive
constructive feedback.
Guidelines:
1) Choose any one mini-project topic from the list of topics provided.
2) Complete the mini project through observation/survey/desk research/analysis/reflection or
ideation and submit a report for the same.
3) Soft copy of the report (maximum 1000 words) should be uploaded in the LMS for evaluation.
a. You have an option to present the project work as a video, a power point presentation or
a word file. Please chose one of the options.
b. The video should not be more than 10 minutes long.
c. The PPT can have about 15 – 20 slides
4) Mini-project report would be evaluated on the following parameters:
a. Understanding of the subject
b. Clarity of thought
c. Situation and Application chosen
d. Originality (Plagiarism free)
e. Recommendations/strategies/examples; wherever asked/required

Mini Project Topics:
1) Trade war and its impact on Indian Economy:
Task Description:
Part 1:
Understand the current status of the Trade War between US and China by collecting information
from news articles.
Part 2:
Submit a report covering the following points:
Impact of US – China Trade was on the Indian Currency and the Indian economy.
The export/import businesses which stands to gain/lose on account of the trade war.
How can India position itself to minimize the impact if any?

2) Letter of Credit:
Task Description:
Part 1:
Compline a check list on SWIFT Message Types (MT) with regard to letter of credit
transactions.

Task Description:
Part 1:
Track the Indian currency movement for the last 2 years and list the factors impacting the
Indian currency leading to depreciation.
Part 2:
Identify the derivative products available for individuals/business involved in international
trade transactions.
Track the latest developments in the currency derivative segment and submit a brief of
the same.

4) Foreign Exchange Rates/Products:
Task Description:
Part 1:
Identify the currencies that your bank deals with and prepare a list of the same.
Identify the spread for each of the currency
Part 2:
Identify and list the Foreign Exchange Products dealt by your bank and then tabulate the
same on the basis of Bank Buying Rate and Bank Selling Rate
5) Balance of Payment:
Task Description:
Part 1:
Provide a brief overview of Balance of Payment and its components. List the items
included in its various components.
Download the April-June 2019 Balance of Payment data provided in the RBI website.

Identify the key highlights (key items in the BOP statement) from the above data
collected/downloaded.
List out the factors (internal/external) affecting the BOP status for India and comment on
what could be done to improve/better the situation.

Part 1:
Identify the contribution of India’s Trade and External Sector to the GDP growth during
the last 2 years.

Part 2:

Government of India over the last 2 to 3 years
Comment on the impact that the initiatives have had on India’s Trade.

7) Trade Finance – Challenges & Trends:
Task Description
Part 1:
Identify the challenges in Trade Finance Lifecycle or the current pain points (focusing on

Identify the Fintech developments in the area of Trade Finance
Part 2:
Provide a summary on the developments/changes/technology implementation done by
your bank in the area of trade finance.
