Closing speeches are critical in reinforcing a team's position by consolidating key arguments, addressing opposition points, and delivering a strong final impression. In the GAD Week Debate, closing speeches allow teams to succinctly summarize and emphasize their arguments, potentially swaying adjudicator opinions. Effective closing can clarify the team's stance and strengths, shaping the adjudicators' final assessment and decision .

The GAD Week Debate's structured format, with designated speaking roles and times, suggests an emphasis on inclusivity and fairness by ensuring each participant has an equal platform to contribute. However, the rigid structure may limit flexibility, requiring participants to strictly adhere to scheduled contributions, potentially constraining spontaneous discourse. Despite these constraints, such a format is designed to foster organized and equitable engagement .

In a structured debate such as the GAD Week Debate Competition, the government side is responsible for presenting and supporting the proposition, while the opposition side is tasked with challenging it. Each side has specific roles: the government's speakers, like the Prime Minister and deputy, present arguments in favor of the proposition, whereas the opposition's speakers, including the Leader and deputy, offer counterarguments. Each participant is allotted a fixed time for delivering their constructive speeches .

Strict timing in debates ensures disciplined argumentation and efficient use of time, encouraging concise and focused discourse. However, it may also pose challenges, limiting the depth of arguments that can be explored within the confined timeframe. Participants must be adept at quickly articulating arguments while addressing complex issues succinctly .

The emotional and cultural dimensions attached to gender issues further intensify the discourse, making it a compelling topic of debate .

Adjudicators play a crucial role in structuring the debate competition by evaluating the arguments presented, ensuring adherence to rules, and providing balanced feedback. They influence the outcome by assessing which team best supports or refutes the proposition based on the quality of arguments, evidence, and presentation. Their feedback helps participants improve their debating skills. Certificates of appreciation are awarded to adjudicators for their discernment and contribution to the competition's success .

The awarding of certificates of appreciation to adjudicators underscores the organizers' commitment to valuing professionalism, fairness, and expertise. It highlights the importance placed on acknowledging the contributions of those who ensure a fair and educational debate environment.
