In your capstone, you have gone through many stages and each stage you

have to take a decision. Explain how your Capstone experience will impact
any decision you make in your life.

Personal Reflection/Team Collaboration

At the out set, beside being the main advantage in STEM education, the
capstone is also like a matrix that arrange our minds to take

the best possible desicion in evrey situation in our lives. This essay will show
two disicions in capstone and the impact of them in

my life.

Firstly, when we went to the carpnter last month to make the main base of
the prototype, I and my team did not know the dimensions

that we should tell to the carpenter at first, then we make some arguments
in front of the shop untill there is some one called him

self an "engineer", this person talked with us about the project and one by
one by one, we told him all things about our project and

school. Then, he wanted to exploit us to get the most benefit from all other
groups in the school, I mean that if he made the prototype

and it works, then he will take our phone numbers and tell us that he want
any other teams from the school to help to get more money.

we ,unfortunately, went with him and one memeber of our team rode his
bysecle and went with him to his small shop to make the prototype.

our friend came back after six hours from 1 PM to 7 PM (nearly), then the
prototype looked very great, but after testing it with an Avometer

in the school it did not produce the desired 40 watt in at most five minutes,
then, we called the man and return the prototype to him and we

payed him 150 pounds, actually for nothing. That will affect my desicions in
the daily life that I should not trust any one that I do not know.

The next situation, was in one meeting in our capstone meeting with the
team. Once, our team memeber suggested an idea of make in the gear
that is externally fricted with the gear that is in the dynamo at the bottom of
the main axis of the turbine. But i prefered that we sholud

make it fricted internally with the dynamo gear. And I told to the carpenter to
erase the internal part of the wooden part. And wheen we tried

it, it faild to get 40 watts. That situation taught me to listin to eavry member
and carry their opnions in my head, because when we made the

gear as he told me, it works!.

In constructing and testing your prototype, you used measurement tools to

get results. Explain how you ensure that you have accurate results.

Using the Engineering Design Process (EDP)

At fisrt, we made our project about the VWAT (vertical axis wind turbine), and
we used many ways and tools to be sure that the prototype works.

This essay will show three ways of testing and three ways to ensure the
accuracy.

Firstly, when we were in the period of constucting the prototype before the
testing processes. we wanted to make the main gears that are connected

to the dynamo (with wooden material) asked the man that has a (beams)
lizar machine to see the gear that is linked with the dynamo to make the
other

gear linked with it, and to ensure results (because we did not give him any
dimensions), we asked him to make four gears, and we tried each one

to make sure that the two gears are linked with no problems and with highest
friction power.

Secondly, we made some physical testing. By rotate the blades with my

hands. That is because we wanted to ensure that the blades (their type

is NACA0021) spin with no problems. And when we rotate it it shows some

friction between the ball bearing and the main column. Then we wented

to get oil to facilitate the spinning process, to get acurate results when we
use the plower to push the blades.

Thirdly, when we made the test plane, we used our friend's (Amr) Avometer
to link it with the dynamo in bottom of the VWAT. And then, we

linked the postive sides and the negative sides with each other. The
Avometer read 0.4 watt (after calculation) per second, with air velocity

3.5 meter per second. Then we had to go to the school laboratory to ensure
the readings. But there was not any Avometer in the school laboratories.

And we had to go to a shop called (circit) that have any thing related to
electronics. Then when we tested it with the shop's Avometer

at the shop. The dynamo produced 0. 38432 watt (nearly) per second (after
calculations). That is what will meat the design requiremnets.
The second way of testing is the physiscal testing. By rotate the blades with
my hand not with the Plower.

According to (ES .1.10) in which you deal with renewable energy sources in
Egypt. Explain two benefits you have got and applied in your project.

Learning Transfer
At the outset, we have got a lot of benefits from studying reneable energy
resources in Egypt and also from the USA (Uinted States of America) (from

Earth Comm refrence). This essay will show two projects that we benifeted
from them in Egypt and one from the USA.

the first project is the Benban solar chimney project, we knowed that if we
wnated to make a solar chimeny project, we need to make it in a very big
volume.

and in our project we needed to aviod using solar power, because we have
only 0.5 M cubed to build the prototype. wich will not give us the

desird 40 Watts in at most five minutes. And that is exactly what the doctor
told my Capmate in the first Field trip.

The second Thing is that Egypt has strong wind power in EL sahraa EL
gharbya. and we knowed that the direction of the wind is from north to south

which helped us to apply the prototype idea with large scale in this place, at
the area of the meditrinean sea.

the third idea that we benefeted from the USA is the Wind farms in
Calefornia. That is mentioned in earth comm page 785. Although they are
horrizental

we knowed that we need to get a specific type of dynamos that called,

Aseter dynsmos to use it in our project.
