Introduction
Our proposed furniture design piece is called "Mesilla," which is a
combination of the Spanish words "mesa" and "silla." It is a design
concept that encompasses form, space planning, and material
exploration; alongside its design's stability, and attractiveness.

The Mesilla is ergonomically designed and has the unique feature

of being foldable, for both table and chair. It's intended for the
furniture design piece to be handy to the user's need; as it is also
adjusted to be adaptable, flexible, and convenient, allowing the
user to maximize floor space and be set up with minimal fuss.

Background of
the Project
Access to quality education is a fundamental right
for every child, regardless of their socio-economic
background. Unfortunately, many schools,
especially those in underserved communities, face
challenges in providing a conducive learning
environment due to limited resources. One critical
aspect of creating an effective learning space is the
availability of proper furniture, such as tables and
chairs.

Underserved schools, typically grappling with

budget constraints, may prioritize educational
essentials like textbooks and teaching materials
over basic furniture. Consequently, students are
forced to endure suboptimal learning conditions,
affecting their ability to engage actively in lessons
and hindering the overall learning experience.

With the belief that a well-equipped classroom can

significantly contribute to the overall educational
experience of students. The lack of adequate
furniture in schools often leads to discomfort and
distraction, hindering the learning process and
potentially impacting academic performance.

for a Multiple Function Activity

Description
Mesilla is a 4 seater innovative table and
chair design suitable for multiple functions.

Project Design
The form of the table came from
the concept (folding system) of a
book. Its chair also has gear
shape design which derived from
the logo of TUP.

Materials
Palochina and kiln dry is the type of wood that will be
use in this project
